@ 12:17 Excel spreadsheet numbers are completely inaccurate! $6,000 yearly Roth IRA contribution means from age 18 to 27, (10 years * $6,000=) $60,000 was added to Roth IRA but row at age 27 "Roth balance" only shows $32,392. What the heck happened to the other Twenty Seven Thousand Six Hundred Dollars?

  3. Rajkumar Sevak

Kerry, a good video. However, in your Excel spreadsheet, you didn't calculate the yearly "Roth balance" correctly – you missed to add the yearly $6000 contribution to the balance. Also, it would be relevant to consider $7000 contribution after 50 years of age. Hope this helps.

Can someone tell this lovely Gentleman that on Roth IRA from age 50 and up you can contribute 7000$ a year not 6000$ ???

    A. I think highly of you but kinda disappointed you have no idea about the 7000$ from age 50
    B. You need to adjust all your numbers.

Great video. I wish I had known this earlier. Thanks!

I have a Roth 401(k) and a 401(k). I started a Roth IRA for my 16 year old since she got her first job. I let her keep her paycheck for now and I fund her Roth while she saves for college. I’m proud of her. She’s saved $6,000 from her first job for her living expenses

a roth ira is not a tax deductible deduction to lower your taxes

but I totally agree taking advantage of a roth ira is a great way to build wealth

You need earned income to do IRA. Retired people with no earned income, not eligible to set up IRA or roth.

Excellent video… at my age, I have come to appreciate if I coulda, woulda, shoulda max'd a Roth-IRA, I'd be much further down the wealth accumulation and wealth preservation ROAD! The other would have been to (when and if I had an accumulated or windfall of money) purchase a Lump-Sum Whole-Life Insurance Policy with "Compounding Riders"…a product promoted by Mrs. Yellen of the Be Your Own Bank or BYOB organization. I'm now looking to purchase a policy for my Great GrandDaughter… this opportunity should be explored by reverse-engineering LIFE, LOL!
