We are funding 403 university plan up to the Match.. then switching the 457 with a Roth component . & 401 k up to the match… backdoor a Roth when possible… lots of moving parts but it should give us options for early retirement & battling the tax man

My employer has a 401k and 457. I contribute 3% to the 401k to get the full match, then contribute the rest of my pre-tax savings to the 475 to fund the option of early retirement.

It’s good when you have a 403b, 457, and TRS, that’s big army of $s working for you!

Very different risks between the two

457s are a asset/liability on the company’s books, so if they go under, they can liquidate at their discretion

Great info as usual! Do you have a full episode where you talk more in depth about 403b? I just started at a job where they have that and I don’t understand the difference between that and a 401k
