    Rule #1 of investments: define the term. It's not the same to invest in TIPS for a single year than for 5, 10 or 30 yrs. You can always argue what will work (or not) for your time horizon.
    Besides, to have zero as correlation coefficient, it means that the variable does not change in time which is false per the speaker's own words since he admits TIPS rates and CPI change with inflation. I'm surprised Forbes endorses this video.

    The same principle applies to gold. A rise in the real yield will decrease gold prices as well. The main difference is that tips are less volatile and taxed less.
