Dave Ramsey recommends a four fund portfolio. Which allocates 25% to each of the following types of mutual funds
25% growth mutual funds
25% aggressive growth funds
25% growth and income funds
25% international mutual funds
Vanguard Growth Index Fund ETF (VUG), growth funds have suffered significant set back in the last year. But this is expected after 15 years of above average returns. The different asset classes will come into style (popularity) at different times. Don’t try to jump in and out. You will destroy your long term performance
In 2021 I back tested Dave Ramsey’s four fund portfolio. By simulating a historic performance of $10,000 invested in each of the 4 types of mutual funds he recommends. You can use portfoliovisualizer.com to do this. I must say. The results were impressive. If you have a financial advisor they can do this same back-test for you. Obviously no one can predict the future but this portfolio will grow your investment significantly. That’s my 2 cents on the topic.
When all is said and done. Your savings rate (the percentage of your income that you invest), and how long you invest. Will determine your success as an investor. There’s no perfect portfolio. But this portfolio can make you a millionaire
