Postal Union on Strike with… & Showing Solidarity! Maybe?

The Postal Union has recently announced that they will be going on strike in the coming weeks, in response to a number of issues that have been ongoing within the postal service. The union has cited concerns such as low wages, long working hours, and increasingly difficult working conditions as the reason for the strike.

Many postal workers have expressed frustration with their current working conditions and have been calling for change for quite some time. The decision to go on strike comes after failed attempts to negotiate with management and government officials to address their grievances.

In response to the announcement of the strike, many other unions and workers’ rights organizations have shown their support and solidarity with the postal union. This has sparked discussions and debates about the importance of workers standing together and supporting each other in times of struggle.

The issue of solidarity between workers is a complex one, especially in today’s globalized and interconnected world. While it is important for workers to stand together and support each other in their fights for better working conditions, it can be challenging to achieve this in practice.

Some have argued that workers in different industries and sectors may have different priorities and interests, and that it can be difficult to find common ground. However, others have pointed out that the issues that the postal union is facing are not unique to them, and that many other workers face similar challenges in their own workplaces.

The postal union strike and the discussions around solidarity are a reminder of the importance of collective action in the fight for workers’ rights. It is a powerful demonstration of what can be achieved when workers come together to demand change and stand up for their rights.

While it remains to be seen how the strike will unfold and what impact it will have, it has already sparked important conversations about the need for workers to support each other in their struggles. It is a clear reminder that the fight for better working conditions and fair treatment is ongoing, and that workers must continue to stand together and show solidarity, no matter the challenges they face.

Over two decades a rural carrier…..this organization is just gonna keep taking and talking bullshit, it would take having upper management and DeJoy drug in front of Congress, and forced to take lie detector test to rectify this miserable existence that they’ve sat in place….. I am an optimist, and I am optimistically looking forward to get the hell out of here and into my retirement as soon as possible….. there will be in the near future. No, RCA’s only H routes to make every rural carrier work six days a damn week without backups……. If you think your local union is in your best interest corner, you are so mistaken…… when you hire a circus to do the work all you get are circus clowns running management and unions

I definitely agree Carriers need more money especially when we’re not getting holiday help!

I hope APWU is doing more than paying lip service to wanting effective stewards. Can't say NRLCA is. I said what I said.

  10. rhondalight70

Prayers going up for big poppa. Keep on doing what you do!

  12. Trapped Kitty

We've got people doing the Blue Flu in our district. Management is mad, but what does it do? It makes the manager look bad, then they get disciplined/moved, and we get the same jackass managers we had before coming back because our door is a revolving one. SMH – if you're going to protest, protest! Don't just all call out!

  13. The Craftsman

Union shop stewards and the union itself are bought and paid for.

  14. Breck Irving

I met a District Manager at the Career Conference in August and he said that at some point he was bought in to make grievances go away. That sounds like some of our shop stewards are selling us out.

  15. Island Hi

Shop Stewards hands are "tied". That speaks volume of how the union leaders are backdoor betty's.
Wecome to the The Postal Service..

  16. K B

That union statement is a lie!! I got a official email from a union regional saying this issues I was emailing about would be better if I minded my business and not worry about what management is doing to Apwu members. That’s why I got out of the union a month ago. Couldn’t deal with the bull. U won’t get my dime!

  17. Jim Peckham

Well said Jay. Blessings for your father.

  18. G.D. Carter
