One of the big advantages to an IRA over a 401k is your ability to invest in whatever you want for the most part. This can also be a huge disadvantage if you make poor choices or if you just keep your money in cash and forget to invest it all together. I’ve made both mistakes, and have seen investors do this on their own when I worked at Etrade, so in today’s video I will help you make smart choices for your IRA and avoid common mistakes.

I have $40,000 in my TIAA account. I started with $36,000 and now it has grown to $40,000 in a few years. Also, I am retired at 69, and at the moment, I don't need the money in my TIAA account. I also, at the same time a few years ago, I put $3,000 in an IRA through Fidelity with a debit card attached to it, but that account balance has not grown. How can I use my debit card to invest this money in an index fund? In light of this issue, I keenly listened to your YouTube video "On How to Invest in Your IRA." I enjoyed listening to your video, and I am going to watch your other videos on related topics of interest to me. In this video, you did not address the issue of federal and state taxes regarding IRA accounts and investments. Can you please address this issue of taxes or refer me to a video you have on this subject?

Really appreciate this advice (you don't belittle at the naivety of newbies!). I had just started my IRA at 57 yrs old and was clueless on how to invest (through E*Trade). How do I get in contact with you? Thank you.
