With the New Year just around the corner, many of us are already thinking about our resolutions for a better life. Whether it’s eating healthier, focusing on personal development, or improving relationships with loved ones, a new year often signifies a fresh start.
However, making significant changes to our lifestyle can be overwhelming and difficult to achieve. That’s why it’s crucial to have a simple plan in place to help set ourselves up for success. With these practical tips, we can make our New Year’s resolution a reality and start 2022 on a positive note.
1. Start small
Small goals are essential to set yourself up for success. It’s easy to get carried away and aim too high, leading to unnecessary stress and lack of motivation. Instead, start with manageable and attainable goals that can be accomplished without causing overwhelm. For example, rather than committing to an hour of exercise every day, start with a 20-minute workout three times a week and gradually increase the duration from there.
2. Write it down
Writing down your goals and plans can significantly increase your chances of achieving them. This helps to solidify your ideas and intentions and provides a visual reminder of what you are working towards. Keeping a journal or planner can help track your progress and hold you accountable.
3. Focus on one thing at a time
Trying to achieve too many things at once can lead to exhaustion and burnout quickly. Instead, focus on one goal at a time and give it your full attention. Once you have made significant progress towards that goal, move on to the next. This approach will help you stay focused on the essential task at hand and increase your chances of success.
4. Celebrate small wins
Celebrating small wins along the way can be an excellent motivator to continue towards your goals. Every milestone reached, no matter how small, deserves recognition. Take time to appreciate and acknowledge your progress and success, no matter how small it may seem.
5. Be kind to yourself
It’s essential to be kind and compassionate towards yourself during the process of achieving your goals. There may be setbacks or moments of failure, and it’s crucial to recognize these moments as opportunities for growth and learning rather than a time to give up entirely. Practicing self-compassion and self-care can help build resilience and improve your overall wellbeing.
In conclusion, a simple plan is all that is needed to start the New Year on a positive note. By setting realistic goals, focusing on one thing at a time, writing them down, celebrating small wins, and being kind to yourself, achieving your New Year’s resolution is achievable. Remember, it’s a process, and it’s okay to stumble along the way. What’s important is to keep moving forward towards your personal growth and happiness.
What a Hero!!!
Great video Ralfy, thankyou for sharing
Ralfy, you are a Good Man.
A happy new year to you Ralfy! All the best to you and yours.
Let your backpack of life be light, packed with only what you need – a homely home and simple pleasures, three or four friends who are worth the name, someone to love and someone to love you, a cat, a dog, and a fun project or two, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for single malt scotch is a wonderful thing.
More of … this channel! That episode in which you suggested a few books REALLY changed my year. When you are ready for some new perspectives, you will find them on your journey, and for me personally it was in here. Thank you
Good stuff ralfy. Enjoyed the blend of stoic malty stories and advice this year. The trite expression don't wait for the storm to pass, go out and enjoy the rain (as legal restrictions allow…) is apt for this year, as it will be next year. All the best.

Thanks. All the best for the new year Ralfy!!! Great view from Ramsey Marine Nature Reserve. Lucky you. What a great place to live. The Isle of Man !!!
Have a great New Year Gainerz!
Excellent straight forward and practical advice Ralfy.
Hey Ralfy! I bet a whole lot of your long time Malt Mates watching these could do with some help getting started on exercising. So if it would be to your enjoyment maybe you could make a simple 5-10min program with dumbbells perhaps? Because, as we know, 10min is more than enough to get a routine going, and then it's just a matter of repeating and/or expanding on that. I saw you did some on the long rod, but for those who need it the most, a couple of dumbbells is something most everyone can more easily replicate with a couple of bottles, maybe even some of those big taxfree ones for the more muscular types ;-). And also, thanks for all the great stuff you have put out and the stuff yet to come, and a Happy New Year to You!
Ralfy, you have been giving us sound advice throughout 2020. You are a class act. You care about people. Even in your whiskey reviews you warn us about over consuming alcohol. On this channel, you advise us how to eat and live better. Thank you for being a gift to humanity. Have a healthy and meaningful 2021.
Great advice Ralfy. I will give this a go. A day reflecting on oneself. Happy New Year to you and all the best for 2021.
Thanks, Ralfy. See you in 2021.
Thank you sir. Greatly enjoyed your channels this past year.
Great advice and beautiful setting.
Do you think the world will be the same after this pandemic ?
Personally I don't think so , I think the world is changing into another type of life philosophy! Nothing will be the same again.
To quote Oscar Wilde, I can resist anything but temptation. All the best for the new year Ralfy
2020, crap though it was, I completed Project 52. Week 1 = every day plank plus one squat plus one press up. Week 52, plank plus 52 squats plus 52 press ups.
Thanks Ralfy and good health & best wishes for 2021!
Less of:
* Spend less time on the internet watching Youtube and Ralfy….no, wait a minute…
* Drink less whisky….er…too hasty perhaps…hang on…
More of:
* All of the above + more quality beach fishing time on my own with exquisite scenery, so I can put the world to rights!
Okay, I'm happy with my plan.
Thanks Ralfy 😉
Ralfy – in regards to your chocolate – I've been enjoying one named "Absolute Black With Cocoa Nibs". No sugar or sweeteners, but enjoyable! It's made over your way. Maybe it would work for you? The lack of sweetness seems to help with the portion control. https://www.montezumas.co.uk/100-cocoa-chocolate-bar-absolute-black.html
Thanks for sharing Ralfy and have a Happy New Year
Thankyou for a wonderful year, so full just about everything, meticulously woven and imparted. May 2021 greet you with even more success. The old knowledge comes full circle.
Lessov and Morov, coincidentally, my two favourite russian hockey players. You just have to put them in the right position. Lessov on defence, Morov scores goals.
Happy New Year Ralfy!
