   I absolutely agree 100%. Those few that you named are definitely a good bet for the long term. Fidelity, Vanguard, E*Trade, Schwab, and TD Ameritrade are the best. I like Fidelity because of their HSA account.

   1. A Vanguard mutual fund.
   2. If (1) is too risky for your taste, your favourite bank, making sure that your investment in a given bank is fully insured by the FDIC.
