I have 30yrs left before retirement. I keep mines pretty simple, 401k 100% S&P 500. ROTH 100% VT. Individual account mix growth and dividends.

Thank you, Prof. G. for another great content. I recently opened a Roth IRA account and here's my current fund allocations:
VTI(65%), VYM(15%), VUG(10%), VXUS(10%). I've a relatively higher risk tolerance, so I'm leaving bonds out for now. My question to you is if you were opening a Roth IRA account TODAY and not taking the target day route, would these particular ETFs & ALLOCATIONS mirror your portfolio? Thanks!

The hardest thing about investing is being patient and investing consistently year after year. I’ve been investing into the index funds for a few years now and it’s such a slow process you need incredible amount of patience.

    1st world problem question

Wife and I don’t qualify to contribute to a Roth IRA. Best alternative for us? I’m guessing a traditional IRA?

Also can you at some point go over how to go about doing a backdoor Roth?

  9. Stephen Bishop

TSP video for us FEDS? Could be cool.

My job recently added a Roth 401k as well as the regular traditional I was able to take already pre tax contributions and as well as my company match and switch it over to the Roth option definitely will help later when I withdrawal from the account

Hola Professor, is there a difference in having the roth ira(voo) in chase and it is not vanguard? thanks

  15. Tony Kessen

I just rolled a 401 into a traditional ira and opened a roth ira to put extra money into. Is that a bad idea?

Thanks for the Great information. Could you please do a video for starting an account for kids or Grandkids. And what to invest in for them. There is no videos up to date on that. I would like to give my Grandkids a good start in life.

  17. mlion

    Good basic info.
Don't forget to add that a contribution to a regular IRA account is tax deductable vs a contrubution to ROTH.

  18. Kristina Leano

Hey Prof G! Thank you for another informative video. I was all ready to do the full contribution for Roth IRA for 2023 but I ran into this "MAGI" Limit. If my salary is $141k, married filing separately and I live with my spouse, the IRS website says I can't contribute anything at all??? I may be misunderstanding the MAGI calculation. Would you consider doing a video on the MAGI thing? Thanks sir and happy Thanksgiving!
