The COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a massive blow to world economies, and Europe has not been spared. As countries continue to battle the virus and its subsequent effects on the economy, the question on everyone’s minds is whether Europe will face a recession in ’23.

Finland Prime Minister Sanna Marin has pointed out that it is a possibility. Speaking in English during a recent interview, she noted that while the situation is improving, there are still concerns about the long-term effects of the pandemic.

One of the key factors that could lead to a recession is the slow recovery of the tourism industry. Europe is a major tourist destination, and the pandemic has severely impacted the sector. Many countries have closed their borders, and travel restrictions have been put in place to curb the spread of the virus. This has led to a significant drop in international tourist arrivals, which in turn has impacted businesses that rely on the sector. If the recovery of the tourism industry continues to be slow, it could have a ripple effect on other sectors of the economy.

Another factor that could contribute to a recession is the loss of jobs. The pandemic has led to a rise in unemployment rates across Europe. With businesses shutting down or operating at reduced capacity, many people have lost their jobs. This has led to a drop in consumer spending, which could affect other industries such as retail and hospitality.

The situation is further complicated by the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic. While vaccines are being rolled out, there are concerns about new strains of the virus and the effectiveness of the current vaccines against them. Ongoing lockdowns and restrictions could negatively impact the economy, leading to a recession.

While the possibility of a recession cannot be ruled out, there are measures that can be taken to mitigate the impact. Governments across Europe are offering financial support to businesses and individuals affected by the pandemic. This could help to boost consumer spending and prevent further job losses. Additionally, countries could work together to find ways to safely reopen the tourism industry, which could provide a much-needed boost to the economy.

In conclusion, the possibility of a recession in Europe in ’23 cannot be ignored, given the ongoing effects of the pandemic. While measures are being put in place to mitigate its impact, uncertainty surrounding the virus and its effects on the economy remains. Countries will need to work together to find sustainable solutions to prevent a recession and ensure a stable economic recovery.

It is not the first day of the recession in the EU. How could people expect economic growth after the pandemic disease and war? The fixed costs recur daily and manufacturers must produce even on negative margin orders to reduce the loss.

1:02 " First the pandemic showed us that we are too dependent of other markets…", yes yes Sanna dear you just forgot to mention that it was capitalist's liberalism ideas that moved production centers out of the West for profit. Idiots like you can only be so blind because nowadays you don't go to the universities to learn but to be formatted and trained in trickle down bs so you can be the next Milton Friedman of this life to further improve the very strategy that has brought us to the predicament we are in right now.

She just means that world is heading into blocks. A western block and an Asian trading area. Asian countries will become more independent of western influences and she doesn't like that.

Finish Prime Minister has to do more growing up. She claims that Europe has paid a huge price for having been too dependent on Russia, an authoritarian state, for its energy needs. The reality is that Russian gas was so cheap that EU made huge gains. EU is paying the huge price now for its stupidity in aligning itself with the US, that caused the war in Ukraine against the interests of EU. The EU is now importing liquified gas from the US at a higher cost. Can Sanna Marin explain how this form of diversification is better for EU? It seems to me EU is moving its dependence for gas from Russia to the US, but somehow that is good for EU even having to pay higher prices. If EU wants to prosper and to be in peace, it needs to do two things. The first is above all to build it's own military capability independent of US interference or control. EU has been too dependent on the US for its own defense, and that meant the US called the shots that led to the war in Ukraine against the vital interest of EU. If Sanna Marin had a head on her shoulders, she would have either continued to keep Finland out of NATO or work in promoting the military independence of the EU block. Keeping NATO under US control is dangerous, as it will likely lead to more tensions and wars not only in EU but other regions of the world. Most people in EU, except for the bought politicians, have little or no appetite to continue the war in Ukraine. This appetite for war in EU would be even less if the US led a NATO war say against China! The other thing EU needs to do is to re-establish economic relations with Russia, if EU truly wants to remain a relevant and prosperous force in the world. Russia needs the EU and vice versa. Russia is rich in culture and many resources that world will need. Russia is no longer the previous USSR and is not interested in invading any EU countries, including bordering ones, unless they pose a security risk. Ukraine would have spared its own destruction if it had declared itself non-aligned with no one. Zelensky chose differently and will pay a huge price.

What a joke, Sanna Marin is, as she blames Russia for the war with Ukraine, although both Angela Merkel then leader of Germany, and Franscious Hollande then leader of France, have both come out to contradict exactly that, stating it was never their intention to implement the Minsk-agreements, so that Uiraine could buildup its military
She goes on to blame Russia, for authoritarianism, and a world wherein other countries might resort to the same, whereas she completely ignores the US, and NATO since its inception, who have been – illegaly – invading countries like:
