Yeah and then a pandemic hit and renters stop paying rent but the banks still want their mortgage payments. If you have extra cash and already are paying a mortgage the better investment would be to pay down that mortgage so you own the property outright and can guarantee that a sale would be a large lump sum to supplement retirement.
