Old Japanese Women Face Growing Poverty

In Japan, a growing number of elderly women are finding themselves in a precarious financial situation, as the population ages and social security benefits fail to keep up with the rising cost of living.

According to a report from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the poverty rate among elderly women has increased significantly over the past decade, with approximately 36% of women aged 65 and older living below the poverty line. This is a worrying trend, as Japan is already known for having one of the highest rates of elderly poverty among developed countries.

One of the main factors contributing to this trend is the lack of adequate retirement savings. Many women in Japan were part of the traditional model of marriage, where the husband was the breadwinner and the wife was responsible for managing the household. As a result, these women often lacked the opportunity to build their own careers and save for retirement. With the decline of traditional family structures and the rise of divorce rates, many elderly women are finding themselves without sufficient savings to support themselves in old age.

Another contributing factor is the gender pay gap and the prevalence of part-time and temporary employment for women. According to a report from the World Economic Forum, Japan ranks 110th out of 149 countries in terms of gender equality, with women earning only 73% of what men do for the same work. This disparity in earnings can have a significant impact on women’s ability to save for retirement and support themselves in old age.

Additionally, the cost of living in Japan has been steadily increasing, making it even more difficult for elderly women to make ends meet with limited financial resources. With rising healthcare costs, housing expenses, and everyday living expenses, elderly women on fixed incomes are finding it increasingly challenging to afford basic necessities.

It is clear that the growing poverty among elderly women in Japan is a pressing issue that requires immediate attention and action from the government and society as a whole. Measures need to be put in place to ensure that women have access to adequate retirement savings and social security benefits, and that they are able to secure stable and well-paying employment opportunities throughout their working lives.

In addition, efforts should be made to address the underlying gender disparities that contribute to women’s financial insecurity, such as the gender pay gap and lack of support for women in the workforce.

It is imperative that Japan takes steps to address the growing poverty among elderly women, in order to ensure that all members of society can live with dignity and security in their later years. By implementing policies that support women’s financial independence and ensure access to essential resources, Japan can work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society for all.

DUH their husbands died THAT'S WHY THEY ARE ALONE. Don't worry about the older generation, THAT'S NORMAL. What not good is that the younger generations of japanese are refusing to start families. Kiss your anime goodbye.

in the long long ago of the 1990s there was this very infamous place in Okinawa, it was called whisper alley. These kind of places have always existed in Japan. Its a culturally accepted thing. They dont have the puritan rejection of sex like the US does. I would always take our new boots to whisper alley, and walk them down it.

I would say, "I dont want to ever see you here with these women. Never." Every rotation, you would always find some desperate Marine going there and supporting these elderly women.

And there was the Stage. That place just destroyed your image of women. But alas both places are gone now. Just like Storyville in Louisiana right before WWI kicked off. If men really want to know what womens fates were prior to the welfare state, simply look these things up. And as the welfare state breaks under its own weight, it will return.

It's gonna get bad here in the US. I am seeing it first hand already with my mother, 62, who is completely broke and jobless. She frequently asks me for money and I give her a little bit here and there but I have said she's going to be cutoff soon if she doesnt come and work for this money by watching her grand-daughter (ex and I lose 1.1k/mo in daycare fees that I would prefer to give to my mother).

Japanese men saw their fathers working grueling long hours to an early grave, with an unsupportive wife thanks to America forcing feminism into the culture after the war. Hence the herbivore men started becoming at thing by the 1980s.

Japan is another failing society. Their sexual degeneracy is like America's and they are paying for it like America is starting to now

As a guy, save up when you get a lot of hours, and live off it while society decides it doesn't want you in the workforce for 6 months again. If you save up enough, you will get a woman in her 20s no matter how old you are. Let the women play their games, it's mostly hurting them. Get what you can, when you can, and don't give away what you got.

With what was going on in Japan lately this is not surprising, I also heard in Japan that around 2022-2023 95% of the divorces were done by Lezbeyans and there was a case of a crazy Lezbeyan in Japan who stabbed other women on the street because they would reject her advances yet the manga and anime industry wants to represent their unnatural lifestyle as model relationships this is pure kool aid fantasy and clown world.

We gotta keep standing our ground, we are winning this spiritual war brothers.
