Thailand, also known as the Land of Smiles, has always been a popular tourist destination for people all over the world. With its exotic food, beautiful landscapes, and welcoming people, Thailand has a lot to offer. However, for many people, visiting Thailand isn’t just about a short holiday. It’s a new beginning, a fresh start, and a chance to build a life in this wonderful country.

If you are one of these people, then you’ll be thrilled to know that Thailand has introduced a new visa that could change your life. The Non-Immigrant O-X visa is a long-stay visa that allows foreign nationals aged 50 and above to stay in the country for up to 10 years. This visa is perfect for people who are looking to retire in Thailand, as it allows them to stay in the country for an extended period without having to worry about renewing their visa every year.

To be eligible for this visa, applicants must meet certain criteria. They must be aged 50 or above, have no criminal record, provide proof of their financial status, and have medical insurance. The financial requirements for this visa are quite high, and applicants must show that they have enough funds to support themselves during their stay in Thailand.

One of the benefits of this visa is that it allows you to travel freely in and out of the country. You don’t have to worry about visa runs or renewals, as long as you abide by the visa’s conditions. Additionally, this visa allows you to work in Thailand, although there are restrictions on the types of jobs you can do. However, if you’re retired, you won’t be allowed to work.

The introduction of this new visa has been welcomed by many expats who have made Thailand their home. It provides them with stability and security, knowing that they can stay in the country for an extended period. It also offers incentives for foreign investment, as it allows foreigners to buy property or invest in a business without having to worry about their visa status.

In conclusion, the Non-Immigrant O-X visa could change your life if you’re looking to retire in Thailand or start a new life here. If you meet the eligibility criteria and can provide proof of your financial status, then this visa is worth considering. It offers long-term stability and allows you to explore all that Thailand has to offer without worrying about your visa status. So why not take advantage of this opportunity and start your new life in Thailand today?

Quick question. What if I meet income requirements and employed here in the states, but the entity that employs me is my own online company? Would I be able to qualify for this Long Term Visa? Please help anyone!!

  2. Peter DeForest

Let me understand this. You can apply to work remotely as long as you work for a company with $150MM in revenue and have an employment contract – in US, small businesses employ at least 50% of all workers (at under $150MM this percent might even be higher), so they’re out. And most US workers, other than senior executives at major firms, do not have employment contracts.

As far as wealthy pensioners go, providing your investment portfolio, and only annuities count (annuities are a terrible investment), or buying Thai bonds (and taking interest rate and currency risk). In order to buy property, don’t you need to send (and convert) funds, which means you need a Thai bank account. I understand thst Thai banks don’t want to open accounts for Americans because of the burdensome US government reporting requirements.

It seems that there are still barriers in the way of this LTR Visa, at least for Americans.

My husband and I have decided that we will retire in Thailand as wealthy pensioners in our 50s. Our target date is within 36 months from now. We have a lot of downsizing to do! Thanks for this video!

Could a funded Forex trader who makes enough annually qualify for this LTR Visa? Does anyone know if prop firms such as FTMO/MyForexFunds/etc are publicly listed and meet the requirements?

  6. Henry Severs

This is a helpful intro to the LTR visa but would be been good to drill down into all 4 categories and their respective requirements rather than just 2 of them.

I belive I qualify for the remote worker category but may possibly qualify for the highly skilled professional category also. Trying to better understand the requirements and what would be the best option in the long run is difficult to navigate.

Does the lady in the video or her team offer consultations to better weigh up the options better?

I am pretty sure we will see this guy in a few years crying about how he made a mistake about everything he’s doing right now in Thailand. His first big mistake is buying real estate which we all know you can’t own land in Thailand. At first I loved this channel and the positive upbeat vibe he had but he’s now becoming a fake news channel. He has no idea what he’s saying anymore.

  9. J Z

Lol you are too funny guy. Let me explain something to you about the LTR visa. My buddy had something like that which he paid $30,000 usd for pre Covid. I think it was the elite visa? He’s very well off trust me. When he left thailand for a few months as he always did to return home and wasn’t allowed to return during covid he wasn’t able to do his yearly check in at immigration so they took it away from him. $30,000 just like that gone. What do you have to say about that I’m curious?

  10. andreas

Becareful before you buy anything, because in the end thailand no have rules, you not save, better you are flexible

  11. david walden

Same old story …maybe yes or maybe no. We call that beating around the bush in Australia. Still not likely unless you have a lot money…maybe US $1,000,000.

  12. Daniel Eder

Complete useless visa. Get a Business visa and found a company on paper….much cheaper

  13. Full Tactical TV

Do they not have something for long term for veterans?

  14. DJ HiNRG

I wonder if anyone can see right through this LTR. But if you're not one of them rich retiree, there are other cheaper options/methods.

  15. Joseph Palumbo

Hi Chris. Also from Toronto. Great video. I am like Jane. How do they verify rental income? Need this for 2yrs?

  21. Denny the Davinchi

This is no great deal than simply skip to all requirment and have Elite VISA. 10 years will cost you some where less than $30,000. Which is more cheaper option rather than just spend more than $80,000 for couple of year without usaage.

  22. azertease

The Work From Thailand requirements are totally ridiculous. You can earn way more than an engineer at Twitter but because you don't work for a big company like Twitter you are disqualified, it makes no sense. Moreover, eliminating freelancers is stupid, in most European countries the only way (most of the time) you can earn more than 80k USD per year is to be freelancer. There's almost only in the US where you can get an insane salary with a fulltime job regular contract. I wonder how many people succeeded to obtain this Work From Thailand LTR visa. Not a lot I guess.

  23. Mark Verhoeven

Looks like Thai elite visa is still the best option for me.

  24. J

Hopefully Stan theTwitter guy wasn't a super WOKE employee because Stan got fired by now lol

  25. Kevin Bloomfield

Deffo the best youtuber I watch. This video was so good and something we are looking at doing in the future

  26. Tone

Can you by two properties, say one condo to rent out, and another to live in, or only one property. Also are there finance options for foreigners there?

  27. Bigrad Wolf

What happens when 10 years expire?

  28. Bigrad Wolf

They should relax that rule of requiring foreign company to explicity authorize you to work in Thailand. Most US top companies still cling to "work from home" with home as US, for security/legal purposes. They have not yet caught up with the concept of safety in work from other countries like Thailand (maybe in G7 countries) although many of these companies would have no issue where the person works from. They just don't need to be required to write it down and be a binding document. It's called plausible deniabiility.

  29. Bigrad Wolf

Does Thailand know that 62 is the youngest age for pension to kick in not 50? It does not matter if you can earn $100K a year of pension, as long as you are under 62, you get 0 (unless you are paying penalty of 10% for withdrawing early which is huge).

  30. Nicky Martin

Does this visa allow for same-sex couples to utilize the visa? Also, do they plan to eliminate the 90 day reporting for Elite Visa holders too?

  31. James Edgewood

Sure, but rich or not, you'll always be farang. You can't buy 'home'. The government is too greedy and they will not reach their goals. We are entering global recession…… people with that kind of money have built themselves bunkers in New Zealand. They won't pay to be elite 'second class' farangs in Thailand. Nice try but no. Thailand is not Dubai. Thailand is better, but they should not try to compete for millionnaires, unless they want the country full of Indians and Chinese.

  32. Earl

Why does the company matter, not everyone wants to work for the Twitters and the Facebooks?
I am self employed, making over 200k and still don't qualify, this is dumb.

  33. Larry Beier

This sucks. I want to live in thailand but im not rich

  34. Itsnowjoke

They will always be building new condos and if you invest yours Won’t be the shiny new one after a few years so you risk tieing up your liquidity and options in Asian real estate could work out but could be a disaster

  35. Itsnowjoke

Why bother with this Just stay on a tourist visa and keep your residency in your home country , stay a few months in Thailand a few months in Bali or Malaysia, I think Thailand are over pricing themselves

  36. Tom D

Sound good but still some questions come to mind. The application fee in 50,000B, the for each person’s visa so retire couple would be 100,000B. They call it a 10 year visa but you have to report or renew every year. Does this come with a 50,000B annual fee attached? Then it’s only good for 5 years at which time you need to re-qualify. Seems it’s a 5 year visa with 1 year checks at best. Does this also require another 50,000B? If so then for a couple it’s 500,000B total for the 5 year term or $15,000 usd for the couple and $30,000 for 10. It’s starting to look less appealing. Of course that is if fee is charged each year. I can enter for 45 days without fee just proof of insurance which is required for everyone regardless of visa type.
I also wouldn’t be interested in buying any property in any foreign country at my age. Renting for me make way more sense because when I die a whole new can of worms would occur for my remaining family living outside of Thailand. The more I think on it the less interesting it sounds. I think Mexico, Cambodia, Malaysia and several countries in Europe (Spain and Portugal) have a better visa option if long terms is the goal.
I’m guessing this might be beneficial for some. Especially if the are still working and the company is absorbing the cost. My wife and I love Thailand but I don’t think at any price.

  37. Scott Annand

Does Stan still have his job at Twitter?

  38. Geoff Waterhouse

Seems like its only set up for the wealthy….Or is that the norm income and assets….?

  39. Michael Dawson

Did you make a video to describe what kind of business you can open with an LTR visa?

  40. Ry The Investor Guy

Chris, thank you. This video was so informative! I hope you keep us updated. I hope to be in Thailand in 18-24 months.
