Fidelity Inflation Protected Bond Index Fund | FIPDX

I know we don’t usually talk bonds on this channel, but today I want to review the Fidelity Inflation Protected Bond Index Fund (FIPDX). I will cover all the mutual fund metrics that are important to consider, give my opinions on where this fund might fit into a portfolio and lastly do a back test comparison against the Total US Stock Market and the Total US Bond Market.

this fund has really tanked. how low can it go?

Since interest is now at 5% and may go up is it a good time to buy ticker symbol or wait until it goes higher

Do you think ibonds are better than TIPS? I've been thinking about moving some of my cash to ibonds or TIPS because of the potential to earn more interest than a regular savings account.

Hi Moki Finance, Thanks for such informative video. I am 56, my asset location is 60 stocks
40 bonds – but I only have this inflation fund on my bond percentage. Is that ok?

Should I move all 100% of my 401k into an inflation protected bond if I’m still 22 ?

So why did FIPDX go down during the period from 2012 to 2014???….I know inflation was low during that time, but we still had some inflation. not deflation.

Glad to see this, I am 48 and need to secure a larger portion of my fund. I was looking at the following Bonds FAGIX and FXNAX will you review these please? My account is to aggressive and needs to be balanced out.

Not sure I want the government backing my fund.

I am thinking about investing a small percentage of a brokerage account in a muni fund for some funds that would be parked in a savings account and potentially save on taxes. Have you reviewed FLTMX OR FIMSX?

Where'd you get that fireplace in the back?

  11. Evan Walker

I have a feeling that inflation won’t be as bad as people are saying, but this is still good to know. Appreciate it!

  12. Andrew Akers

Can you review the Fidelity Contrafund – FCNTX? I know it's not an index fund, but it looks like a rare solid actively managed fund? Maybe the Puritan Fund (FPURX) as well?

I read a study sometime ago that said one should never invest more the 40% into bonds. Like 40 is the magic number, anything over that gives no benefit and actually gives worst return as the % of bond increases further. Do you know anything about and more to this?

Great informative video as always! Cheers.

Great video. You explained bonds well. I'm not in bonds, but this will be valuable to those who need them. Thanks
