The Cars were a popular American rock band that formed in Boston in the late 1970s. With hits such as “Drive,” “Just What I Needed,” and “My Best Friend’s Girl,” the band gained fame and success throughout the 1980s and 1990s. One of their most iconic songs, “Let’s Go,” has recently been featured in an advertisement by Fidelity Investments.

The 1979 hit “Let’s Go” is a driving rock tune with an infectious beat and catchy lyrics. It was written by the band’s frontman, Ric Ocasek, and features his distinctive vocals and guitar playing, as well as the distinctive keyboards of bandmate Greg Hawkes.

The Fidelity Investments commercial that features “Let’s Go” shows real people going about their daily lives, from commuting to work to enjoying time with friends and family. The song provides an upbeat soundtrack for these everyday moments, reminding viewers that with Fidelity, they can take charge of their financial futures.

The use of the song in the ad is fitting, as the lyrics of “Let’s Go” encourage listeners to seize the day: “I like the nightlife baby / She says let’s go!” The message is clear: it’s time to take control of your finances and start planning for the future.

The Cars’ influence on rock music cannot be overstated. With their fusion of new wave, punk, and classic rock elements, they created a unique sound that has stood the test of time. The band’s catchy melodies and clever lyrics continue to inspire new generations of musicians and fans alike.

The choice to feature “Let’s Go” in a commercial for Fidelity Investments seems like a natural fit. The song’s upbeat tempo and message of seizing the day is a perfect match for a financial institution that encourages its clients to take control of their financial future.

In conclusion, The Cars’ “Let’s Go” remains a classic rock anthem that continues to be loved by fans all over the world. Its inclusion in a commercial for Fidelity Investments reminds us that the band’s music still resonates with audiences today. So, let’s go – let’s take control of our financial futures and seize the day!

So Fidelity wants to help you generate enough cash so that dynamite 17 year old will say yes? At least that's easier to understand than their use of "Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)". The Cars were my first live band (on the Panorama Tour with XTC opening), huge fan to this day. Donna, I tried to find the article but couldn't. Can you add a link?
