I have been using a Fidelity Cash Management account for years and I also use it as my trading account. I am not a frequent trader, more long term, but trading happens the same way as with their Investment accounts.

Everything is so easy. My pension and SS are auto deposited. I do ALL my spending on my Fidelity credit card with auto-pay and 2% cash back on all purchases. So easy to check and see all my spending and transactions in one place. Fidelities customer service reps are very intelligent and easy to talk to: their fraud protection people saved my butt a couple times.

My banking, credit card, and investments are all on one page! Makes my taxes a breeze too: just one 1099.

I'm considering opening another brokerage account AND the cash management account for my emergency fund. Cash management for 2months expenses. and the brokerage for the other 4 to actually help it grow. Any real emergency I'd most likely use a credit card and pay off with the cash management and would give some time to get out of brokerage if ultimately needed.

Thank you for doing this comparison! I have a Fidelity brokerage but haven’t pulled the trigger on the cash management side. Seems better than the bank and would keep my accounts together since I don’t use a lot of cash. Thanks!

Lol, I’m still one of those people with a savings account for my EF. Admittedly it’s entirely due to me being overly risk adverse and the potential of the fed raising rates (ie if I were to put my EF into say bonds, there’s an inverse relationship between the bond yield and bond price)
