I have a fidelity brokerage account with margin feature but I've never used it. My balance in that account is small but I have a much larger balance in my Roth IRA and 401K. Fidelity says that my margin buying power is 50% more than my current balance, why is that? Is it considering my non-brokerage accounts? I want to try margin soon since the market is down but don't want to get anywhere close to triggering a margin call. I'll probably buy a safer than average ETF.
