The ratings of FOX News have been falling for a while as they transform themselves into CNN 2.0 (in the daytime, at least). Why is this the case and will this continue? I analyze.

FOX’S FALL CONTINUES! – Network’s Ratings in Free Fall Since Their Turn on Trump, Biden Praise

Over the course of the past year, Fox News has seen a steady decline in its ratings, and the downward trend seems to be continuing. This comes as no surprise to many who have witnessed the network’s shift in coverage and tone from a staunchly conservative outlet to one that has been accused of endorsing more liberal agendas, particularly since the transition from the Trump administration to the Biden administration.

For years, Fox News had positioned itself as the go-to network for conservative viewers, with their unapologetically right-leaning commentary and analysis. The network thrived during the Trump era, consistently ranking as the top cable news network, and capturing a loyal audience of conservative viewers who felt that their voices were finally being heard.

However, all that began to change during the 2020 presidential campaign. As then-candidate Joe Biden’s popularity grew, Fox News seemed to soften its coverage of him, receiving criticism from some long-time viewers who felt that the network was betraying its conservative principles. Insiders suggest that this change in coverage was an attempt to capture a more moderate audience and expand their reach.

The network’s ratings began to decline shortly after the election, as many conservative viewers felt disillusioned by Fox News’ perceived shift in loyalty. The decline has only accelerated since President Biden took office. The network’s decision to frequently praise the new administration and provide less critical coverage has further alienated many longtime viewers.

Notably, Fox News’ competitors, such as Newsmax and One America News Network (OAN), have seen a surge in their ratings as disillusioned Fox News viewers flock to alternative conservative outlets. These networks have capitalized on the discontent, positioning themselves as the true conservative alternative to Fox.

Some critics argue that Fox News’ decline can also be attributed to increased competition in the cable news landscape. With the rise of streaming services and social media platforms, traditional cable news outlets have faced challenges in retaining viewership. This, coupled with Fox’s perceived ideological shift, has accelerated the network’s fall.

To their credit, Fox News has made attempts to address the concerns of their conservative base, featuring a mix of conservative hosts and commentators. However, these efforts have done little to stem the tide, and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to regain the trust of the viewers they have lost.

Ultimately, Fox News’ fall in ratings serves as a cautionary tale about the risks of alienating and betraying one’s core audience. The network’s decision to pivot away from its conservative roots in pursuit of a broader viewership has seemingly backfired, leaving them in a free fall in the ratings.

As the media landscape continues to evolve, traditional news outlets must reconcile the challenge of appealing to a changing audience without alienating their core supporters. Fox News is a prime example of the consequences that come with a sudden ideological shift, losing their competitive advantage and facing a significant decline in viewership.

Only time will tell if Fox News can reverse its trajectory and regain the trust and loyalty of its former viewers. But for now, the network’s fall continues, reminding us all of the importance of maintaining transparency and staying true to one’s core principles.

Fox News isn't any better than CNN or many of those garbage Mainstream news outlets. Neocons are hijacking the platform, and it's not going to be a good source anymore. Newsmax is a better platform than Fox.

I believe that FOX's viewership is plummeting, and rightly so. But I don't believe that it has gotten behind CNN and MSDDNC!

    Down with Faux News!!

  6. Duncan McNeill

Fox is pretty much done – they raised the expectations of the right to a level that was completely delusional and when reality kicked in, their viewers felt so utterly let down that they have gone off in search of other outlets to perpetuate that narrative.
OAN and Newsmax were actually MORE guilty of falsely raising the hopes of the right – but somehow they haven’t suffered the same blowback as Fox for their deceit.

  7. Duncan McNeill

Fox “News” is not actually a news channel, it’s an entertainment channel.

  8. Marie Clark

Newsmax and OAN are on youTube and other platforms….

As long as chris wallace is at fox news i will not tune in.

Apparently Wallace never heard or read JFK and ANY of the intervening presidents to this day. The man is a moroon (Bugs Bunny).

Fox news is following in the footsteps of the Drudge Report and for the same reason. They betrayed their base. I've got no time for Fox . They are Yesterday……..

  12. david Bruce

FOX is dead to me… doesnt matter what they do from here on out

  13. Christopher Hubert

Only toilet paper sold out faster than Fox News last year. Carlson should go to Newsmax and boost their ratings…

  14. Dugy Dugy

I wish Fox News disappears and Newsmax , OAN and maybe Trump's news network will take the lead to be anti establishment and break the back of liberal media

  15. Irishmjk

If you are watching news during the day your already dead. Better yet just stay away nothing good it's just fear porn.

  16. Luz Genao

Fox has Paul Ryan on its board. They want everyone to go back to sleep and let the commies run the country.

  17. James Arnold jr

Serves them right . Fuck them they betrayed their viewer base . Sean Hannity , Tucker , Laura Ingram , Jesse Waters , Dan Bongino , Katie Pavlish need to bolt .

In the eyes of the lunatics a network who CORRECTLY called the race of Arizona before everybody did is a sin. Wow there is really no bottom for stupidity and ignorance

  19. wanda torres

That make me so happy, I started watching FNC on 1999 (yes I am old). Boycotted them at election day.

  20. Chris Cosby

I disagree on one point, Chris Wallace has demonstrated a leftist bias for many years now.

  21. Michael Baucom

Other than the opinion shows, Fox News is CNN- lite, has been since Roger Ailes left, and the opinion hosts( save Mark Levin and Judge Jeanine, when she isn't suspended for not toeing the line), have been pushed from being completely conservative…

  22. nastythomashobbs

I have not watched 5 minutes of Fox since election night.

  23. Jacob McCracken

Genuine question to right wing populists do you want Trump to run again either by third party or getting the Republican nomination or do you want a new man to take his place im curious

  24. John Wheet

I'd like to see Trump purchase the run down CNN, AT&T is looking for a buyer. He could make it a conservative news network and with the Trump supporters we could make it one of the leading news agency's soon, look how we ran down FOX after they turned on us. We could do the same but in reverse

  25. Edward Coyle

As consumers look for conservative news outlets they will become more dissatisfied with Fox as the judge Fox by the a new standard.

  26. Leos 71

    Chris walluarse is a joke

  27. 9babyeinstein

Everyone needs to get to their local Gop office and get on the plan to take AT ONCE ! No sitting around for 3 months. Time to get the plan together. If some sensible action is not taken, time for the Patriot Party.

  28. 9babyeinstein

They brought this on themselves. Traitors.

  32. GG Ductor

    FAUX News Channel

  33. edwardpf123

    Fox is finished!

  34. Lawrence Wright

How is that Fox News (Chris Wallace) was able to call Arizona for Biden before 10% of the vote was counted?

Why did Chris not call Texas for Trump when the vote was 90% counted.

What did Chris Wallace know about the voter fraud & when did he know it?

  35. Kathleen Martin

I believe Fox News will continue their downward spiral, until they no longer have any viewers.

  36. lisar3006

FOX more than even CNN is responsible for the successful election steal. Not only did they call Arizona with only 18% of the vote in they did it in Virginia also. They are worse than CNN because we all know it is fake news. FOX was built on the backs of the very people FOX just screwed. I had stopped watching FOX after they fired Bill O'Reilly.

  37. John Kearney

There is no reason to ever trust Fox News again. They have lost me forever.

  38. MichiganCowboy

Do a video about the White House's YouTube page having thousands of more dislikes than likes for Biden, and all comments are Pro-Trump

  39. catitude4

Drop Fox altogether. I watch Newsmax.

  40. T B

"From a fully objective point of view, it was better"

What kind of stupid are you?

  41. Leyon Hoshing

    Fox news rating drop.. nice!

  42. IYAAYAS

EVEN IF Fox News started reporting honestly and supporting Trump more than we do, I would not return to watching Faux. I don't know what it would take for me to return but IF I did, I will always remember their reporting of election 2020. I think a detailed report of their own actions, an apology for taking them, AND a revealed detailed plan for improvement MIGHT convince me to return. All three conditions would just be one step for me to consider watching them again.
