Another Chargers legend is leaving on bad terms with the team after the Keenan Allen trade, but Joe Hortiz says the team explored multiple options to keep him including an extension. Allen’s camp clapped back saying an extension was offered, but it was an offer asking the star receiver to take a major salary cut. Dan and David discuss why both sides can be right, and the rest of wha they gleamed from the General managers comments on continuing to attack free agency. Hortiz also acknowledged the major needs the team has at wide receiver and cornerback, and said he is bullish on the draft class at both positions. The drama surrounding star wide receiver Keenan Allen and the Los Angeles Chargers continues to unfold as general manager Joe Hortiz revealed that Allen was offered a contract extension. This latest development adds another layer of intrigue to what has been a tumultuous offseason for the Pro Bowl receiver.

Earlier this offseason, Allen made headlines when he publicly voiced his frustration with his contract situation, stating that he felt undervalued by the Chargers. The wide receiver, who is entering the final year of his contract, has been seeking a new deal that reflects his status as one of the top receivers in the NFL.

In response to Allen’s comments, GM Joe Hortiz confirmed that the team did in fact offer the receiver a contract extension. However, Hortiz did not provide details on the specifics of the offer or why Allen has yet to sign it. This revelation raises questions about the negotiations between the team and the player, as well as the future of Allen with the Chargers.

The situation has put a spotlight on the relationship between Allen and the team, with many speculating that the receiver could be looking to force his way out of Los Angeles. This would be a major blow to the Chargers, as Allen has been a key piece of their offense since being drafted in the third round in 2013.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future with the team, Allen has continued to show up for offseason workouts and has remained committed to performing at a high level on the field. His work ethic and production have made him a fan favorite in Los Angeles, and many are hopeful that a resolution can be reached that will keep him in a Chargers uniform for years to come.

As the offseason progresses, all eyes will be on the Keenan Allen saga as fans and analysts alike wait to see how the situation unfolds. Whether he signs a new contract with the Chargers or forces his way out of town, one thing is certain: the drama surrounding Allen is far from over.

I'm watching a lot of draft shows and and what makes me feel good is I trust this new staff. They make good moves . We're not stupid anymore. Feels great.

  2. @CaliBorn73

Let's stop with the "woe is me". Tom Brady was a Buc, Joe Montana was a Chief, Peyton Manning was a Bronco, Emmit Smith was a Cardinal, Brett Favre left for the Vikes, Jerry Rice didn't retire a 9er, Aaron Rodgers is a Jet, Matthew Stafford is a Ram and it goes on and on and on. And almost all of those guys won a SB or multiple, before being allowed leave their original teams. It always sucks to see franchise cornerstones put on another jersey, but this isn't a "Chargers" thing, it's a league thing.

  3. @ramiroheredia7

The thing is if u really want to retire as a chargers u can work it out BUT !!!!! MONEY IS A HELLUVA DRUG HE WENT FOR THE MONEY BUSSINES IS BUSSINES GENTLEMEN U WANT TO WIN GET GOOD YOUNG BLOOD AND LETS GO !!! U HAVE TO RISK EVERYTHING IF U DONT RISK DINT GET ANYTHING AND ANOTHER POINT I BEEN SEEING A LOT CONTROVERSY WITH ALL THIS MOVES I THINK THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING LET THEM DO THEIR JOB EASY WE WANT A REAL CHANGE AND THIS IS THE OPPORTUNITY AND PUROS PINCHES CARGADORES DE LOS ANGELES ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡ Q- VO PERROS PURO LOS ANGELES CALIFAS!!!!⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡

  4. @RicardoRivera-vh3ol

Daniel and David: You guys need to talk about the fact that coach Harbaugh spent almost ten years in Michigan which gives him a real advantage over all the coaches in the NFL in this and at least next three drafts. He knows these players. Trust the guys! We are in good hands.

  5. @user-le8ur9ef9l

Arizona wants to sell the 4 spot leaves Harrison Jr wide open if that happens .

  6. @Rob05gil

Khalil Mack took a pay cut and he didn't have to. He just had his best career but he believes in the team team team team aspect that they are doing. Remember that Joe Hortiz said that he wants players that want to be a part of a team.

  7. @1carlosnava

Why are we still talking about this. Move on this is lame

  8. @blessembreaks

Where can we hear Hortiz speak about Keenan? Im trying to find it on YT but nowhere to be found

  9. @LionelTurner777

There is no drama…. Keenan got over paid by the fired management and new management said hell no.. Move on. This is biz. Thank you Keenan and good luck but you could of stayed and build something in LA and sailed into the sunset BUT you had the best year of your career in a 5-12 season…………………………

  10. @olenboydstun759

had to move on from Keenan. He was still good, but I didn't feel like he really scared defenses that much. Mike Evans still does that to a defense, so he can still demand the premium salary.

  11. @dogg3528

Keenan Allen Kick rocks.Greed will not get you rings. Tom Brady was A GOAT and how many rings does he have. He was never the highest pay quarterback .

  12. @davidcrook99

WE as fans of the chargers are so loyal to the franchise but where was the loyalty to the players I get it we chasing the Super Bowl but this feel dirty, Allen was constantly restructuring his contract. He earned his pay, I love Herbert but he was the guy that helped him become the player he is besides raw skill. We are all hurting including Allen look at his face even when dapping up CW at the usc pro day he looked depressed
Sad all around, I can’t blame him for not taking the pay cut

  13. @XXLepic

Some choose pay cuts & SuperBowls, others choose to max money

  14. @user-we8hw7qx3q

I'm loving the moves he making so far!! Doing a good job with limited cap

  15. @Derosa1016

If true completely changes the narrative on Keenan. While I understand and agree he earned the money. Should have taken the extension. Greed took over for Keenan. He wanted it now instead of staying loyal and taking it over a few years.

  16. @eriksvoboda3744

As much as I loved KA, it's time to move on boys and girls. Joe Hortiz had to make some tough moves, thanks in no part to the old regime I might add, and he made them, which is what a general manager sometimes has to do. It's a whole new era, and this back and forth on what Keenan did or did not do, or how many offers was made, or whether or not this guy lied or not, or whatever the hell, is getting kind of silly at this point and ad nauseam. He's GONE. MOVE ON!

  17. @anti-classist

No his current pay is 34 million… salary cap hit is 23 million

And he wasnt going to get 150 targets again… so no he shouldn't get another 30 million for 2 years

  18. @jeffdiano365

I got to say that yo I’ve been listening to you guys for quite a few months but stop referring to Keenan Allen as a $40 million player I just heard you say that quite frankly it irritates me that you’re being that stupid. His cap number was high, but his salary this yearwas the number it was which was below his cap. The cat pit was from all the guarantees and the signing bonus that he had earlier in his contract. If you’re gonna talk about football, make sure that you know what you’re talking about and stop being stupid.

  19. @daviddroegemeier8241

UPDATE : The Chargers have signed former Titans CB Kristian Fulton to a 1-Year deal.

  20. @jacobgiordano7778

I'm surprised no one's talking about this but it sounds like they really didn't want him in their future plans

  21. @slicknick308

    Sounds like another Weddle story

  22. @brianhenry7983

I know this might not be on the table for the chargers, but if they could somehow find a way to get cooper beebe in the late first round or second round, I think he would be the perfect guard for what they want to do. I also don't want the chiefs to get that guy.

  23. @CP-ct5hp

No respect for Josh Palmer. He’s carried them when the other two were hurt. He’s not even a #2 ?? No respect
