As of writing, 38.4 million people have been infected with and 2 million have died of Covid19.

That alone is unforgivably damaging. Every life is priceless.

Unfortunately, it is not just the patients that are suffering. It is every person that is connected, directly or by 100th degree of separation.

Covid19’s damage was such a huge blow that it knocked down businesses overnight. That translated to unemployment which translated to unpaid rent, unpaid loans, and no money for basic needs.

According to Harvard professors David M. Cutler and Lawrence H. Summers, all that “translates to an economic loss of more than $16 trillion, or approximately 90% of the annual gross domestic product of the US. For a family of 4, the estimated loss would be nearly $200 000. Approximately half of this amount is the lost income from the COVID-19–induced recession; the remainder is the economic effects of shorter and less healthy life.”

Visual Capitalist Writer Avery Koop estimate is close at $16.2T.

And this is just the US.

The problem is global. What we need is a global solution. There is no cure for the flu. Once it gets to you, you just ride till it runs its course or, in Covid19’s case, it rides you. That’s not an option. Risking anyone’s life is never an option.

That leaves us with one and only one solution, a vaccine for each of the 7.67B people in the world.
