That picture of the teeter totter (see saw) is pretty misleading, I believe. I don’t think the FED has to balance full employment and inflation. They are mandated to optimize both. They are not directly correlated. They can achieve both aims, with the proper policy. I.e. a “zero interest rate policy” and it’s probably more congresses job actually to assist in achieving full employment. Don’t believe it? Check out some Warren Mosley discussions on YouTube.
