Pay is ass. Don’t be fooled.

  2. 안성진 (호기라스)

I've heard that US Special Forces operaters are paid less than police and firefighters.

  3. James Simms

It has nothing to do with banks or financial institutions, they follow the fed.

  4. 龙马精神的版本

Now I have my base pay around 3k per month and 100 something for jump pay, 1500 for 3 languages pay, 250 separate pay and 3500 bah. 2k from stock market dividends pay, 4k from Airbnb.

the military benefits are really good, people just dont know how to take complete advantage of there benefits. The real money comes from Education,G.I Bill, VA Loan.

  6. Phatesdemise

Answer: Not enough to keep up with inflation or housing if living off base.

Not enough for technical jobs with civilian equivalents to stay in. (I say this as an air traffic controller)

Not enough for some to be working 6 days a week 9-12 hour days (my best friend is a maintainer)

Not enough to watch the finance guy working 35 hours a week with weekends and holidays to make the same amount as all the 24/7 jobs.
(No hate, just regretting decisions aka salty)

But enough to survive/save a bit on the side when your starting straight out of high school if you can get past all the bullshit.

The more you get paid, the more inflation takes away from you.

Applies for all types of jobs.
    Disgusting.

  8. Gabriel Williams

Update: as of October of last year they did away with getting paid once a month! This was a devastating hit to me and I had to go to finance to recalculate my budget. This was not optional and was mandatory.

  9. Nicklas Molatore

I really appreciate your videos. Hoping to drop a WOCS packet as a leg warrant after I return to active duty. While I ain't SF material I always appreciate the advice you give.

  10. Tyler-James Denton

How much does the military make? Not enough

  11. Rullusion

If you are a single enlisted soldier you won’t get a housing allowance. You will live in the barracks. They will take $300 out of your pay for the chow hall.

  12. Rullusion

They got rid of once a month payment. I used to have it

  13. DucklingHotSauce

If you served 51 years would you make more than your base pay?

  14. Yella Boi

31st of September???? I never knew it was 31 days in that month….

  15. L.A

Junior enlisted just not making enough sorry to say and there no reward for staying in past 4yrs for most of my junior sailors. When they see how much civilians get paid to do jobs on base with less stress. The military gave everyone a 4% raise fully knowing that officers did not need a raise but the enlisted E1-E5 needed it the most and they dropped the ball again. Long working hrs and less pay for my juniors and I'm proud to say they know there worth and leaving before things get worse for them.

  17. Woynareg Beyene

Man I make 1500 weekly with Uber but my dream job was to be marine infantry buts kind hard to survive without that paycheck .

  18. CB BOIII

Or you can be miserable like me in the oilfield bringing home anywhere between 2,000-3500/week net. Really isn't worth it tho

    In Australia a OR-1 equivalent to an E-1 earns $68,861 AUD ($48,334 US) a year or $5,738 AUD ($4,027 US) a month. An O-1 equivalent to an OF-1 $76,023 AUD ($53,361 US) a year or $6,335 AUD ($4,446 US) a month.

  20. chef

When does this go into effect? I am currently an E-3 and I am getting $900 max per paycheck. I have not seen no $2300+.

  21. ITgamer

I've been part of the military Air Force branch for the past 13 years. The only reason I joined was for money. No other drive than money. And still to this day it is the only reason I am in the military is for money. The military if donne correctly could set you up to be a millionaire. If not in cash it can be through real estate. Be smart, invest wisely.

  22. kevin moore.

    My E1 cash was $92/mo in 1970

  23. kevin moore.

What is a command PFC over 16 with jump pay ?

  24. The_Sauce_Pan

One thing to help out, the Army no longer allows for once a month pay. We stopped that in Oct of 22

  25. John Baker

    Not enough

  26. Shango

I wouldn’t recommend running to the G fund unless you’re close to 60. All the numbers you see in your investment accounts are paper losses/gains. A recession is a chance to gain cheap shares for when the market corrects. Don’t be scared of recessions, embrace the opportunity.

  27. Michael K Borozan

….oh yeah and the gov waste money on gender reassignment in Pakistan…

  28. Michael K Borozan

It's not a reasonable deal for enlisted guys especially since you have buy so much stuff on your own.

  29. ANormalGuy

The Blended Retirement System (BRS) went into effect on 1 January 2018, NOT 2006. Anyone up to that time could still be on the old retirement system.

  30. Herofood

Thank you for this video. You explained how Retirement works so much better, that I understand better.

  31. house keys

I joined for the money but it won't come in a paycheck it'll come from my gi bill and education

  32. Senor Gato

$115k bonus for the Navy? I'm going to press 'x' on that one. Not on you, on the Navy.

  33. Scott Ankers

It is poor advice to stay out of the C fund. Especially as a young person who is nowhere near retirement. The stock market is a LONG TERM investment that always outperforms other investments over the long term. You can't look at it on a short term basis and try to time the market; that's when you will lose.

  34. Scott Ankers

I always felt that pay should increase more substantially when you make E5. At that point you have substantially more responsibility and have demonstrated that you are more careers minded about the military.

  35. Lord dripp

As an e-4 with 2 years our checks only went up like 100$ it’s not that different

  36. Draeger427

My buddy just broke his back jumping static line, jump pay is worth $150 extra a month. So there's that.

  37. Biased Facts

I joined in back in 2017 and did not opt in to the BRS. So I still have the High 3 retirement system.

  38. Jeremy Jamieson

Honestly we make pretty good money. I have been in for 5 years and I’m an E6. On the civilian side I would have to make 88,000 a year to make my income. I don’t pay for medical insurance except 15$ dollars a month for dental for my wife and they match my TSP up to 5%. Depending on the unit but I really only work 5 hours a day unless we’re on TDY or tuning STX lanes. I recommend it. Going to OCS in march and if I commission my pay goes up 15 grand more right off the bat.

  39. Shooter McGavin

A bit misleading. I make over 6 figures as an E8 and only pay taxes on about 2/3rds of my pay. Not bad.

  40. John Smith

US flag on your chest is backward

  41. Military Mackes

This video doesn't seem to be factoring deductions, I'm an E-4 in the 82nd so I get airborne pay and I have religious exemption so I get BAS (not BAH) I make 2100 a month between my 2 checks. before everything maybe on paper its 2700 a month but after deductions it doesn't feel too good and with how much more expensive groceries are becoming and all my bills across the board going up. I have enough to live but with how much of my personal money I have to reinvest into uniforms and other military gear its hard to save more than 1-300 a month. Hope this was helpful for someone.

  42. Military Mackes

The DOD has made it so whether I like it or not you get paid twice a month. I used to get paid once a month which made managing my income much easier and I am still pissed about them at the pentagon messing with my pay.
