Is the Vanguard STAR fund any good?

Hi, I just subscribed to the channel and watching some videos. Very informative. Vanguard STAR fund only has a $1000 requirement. Is that a good fund to invest in for a beginner like me?

Thank you for that information. I get it, so heres my follow up question and hopefully I can make this understandable. I opened a vanguard Roth IRA and have yet to actually load anything into it as I'm doing this research. The 3k for vtsax are not a problem for me but…What if for example the max in a Roth per year is 6K. So if I want to do 60%, 10%, 30% respectively in vtsax, bnd and bit. How can that be achieved if from the jump I need to put in 3k for vtsax. I'm not sure if I am missing something. Or if that for a person doing vtsax the play is to go 100% in that fund from the jump ? Or maybe go with a different broker and just invest in the same founds except vtsax and be able to make that ration preservation easier which seems to be what m1 offers. Thank again for all the great content makes me want to re forward all the info in Spanish ajja .

What about Schwab’s SWPPX? Has lower expense ratio, can setup to auto reinvest either capital gains, dividends, or both. Minimum to invest is only $1.00. Although it’s a smaller fund, it’s done better than VTSAX during the pandemic.

Or just use Fidelity, no investment minimum on their index funds. You don't HAVE to use Vanguard just because of their name. Fidelity is just as good, if not better.

Fidelity, Charles Schwab, Sofi also offer fractional shares. Robinhood has fractional shares waiting list. I like M1 because it has automatic invest in Stock or ETF weekly, biweekly,…. Fidelity and Charles Schwab only have automatic invest in their mutual funds monthly. Fidelity and Charles Schwab had auto reinvested dividend, but M1 only auto reinvested dividend higher than $25

Great video. Would love to see one where maybe you share what you know on how to read a balance sheet and basically how to understand all the stats on Yahoo finance for a given stock or index fund/ETF.

I have a target date fund with Fidelity: FDEWX in my Roth account.

Perhaps a video on individual stocks. Or a video on best index funds through this pandemic year

You're right. I like Vanguard but they make it very difficult to invest with them.

Or just create an account at Fidelity and buy index funds with no minimums and ETF's with fractional share pricing.

Best thing about Joe's videos is they are focused and you don't get lost because he is covering way too much to absorb at once.
