The 2023 recession is looming and investors are wondering how to best protect their portfolios. Although the exact nature of the recession is still unknown, there are some steps that investors can take to ensure that their portfolios remain safe and secure. In this article, we will discuss some of the key factors to consider when investing during a recession, including inflation, interest rates, and market crashes.

Inflation is a key factor to consider when investing during a recession. Inflation is the rate at which prices for goods and services increase over time. When inflation is high, the purchasing power of money decreases, meaning that the same amount of money will buy less. During a recession, inflation can increase significantly, as demand for goods and services decreases and the cost of production increases. As such, it is important to invest in assets that are less sensitive to inflation, such as stocks, bonds, and real estate.

Interest rates are another important factor to consider when investing during a recession. Interest rates are the cost of borrowing money, and they can have a significant impact on the performance of investments. During a recession, interest rates tend to be lower, which can make it more difficult to generate returns. As such, it is important to invest in assets that have the potential to generate returns in a low-interest rate environment, such as stocks, bonds, and real estate.

Finally, market crashes can have a significant impact on investments during a recession. Market crashes occur when the prices of stocks, bonds, and other investments suddenly and sharply decline. During a recession, market crashes can be more frequent and severe, as investors become more risk-averse and sell off their investments. As such, it is important to diversify your investments across different asset classes and to be prepared for market volatility.

In conclusion, there are several factors to consider when investing during a recession, including inflation, interest rates, and market crashes. By taking the time to understand these factors and how they affect investment performance, investors can ensure that their portfolios remain safe and secure during a recession.

Market is down still, I've been looking up strategies and apparently both bull and bear market condition provides equal avenue to accrue massive gains, and a news article particularly mentioned a 54 year old that made $180k in 5weeks, how do I learn these strategies, my portfolio has been stagnant for months.

The only thing you can do is make sure you're ready and plan accordingly because recessions are a natural part of the economic cycle. I began my career during a recession (2009). So I can well say the depression and anxiety has barely started, brace yourself and do not go selling valuable assets because of a little dip

Is this really a good time to buy stocks? I know everyone says the mrkt is ripe enough for buying but will stocks tank further this year? How long until a full stock recovery? How are other people in this mrkt raking in over $250k gains within months, I'm really just confused at this point.

I came here to learn how to invest after listening to a guy on radio talk about the importance of investing and how he made $460,000 in 4 months from $160k. Somehow this video has helped shed light on some things, but I'm confused, I'm a newbie and I'm open to ideas

Anyone have any ideas as to which equities might be having strong gains throughout the holiday season? Many people have been talking about a December rally. I recently sold my Boca Grande, Florida, house, and I want to invest a lump sum before equities recover in the stock market. Is now a good time to buy or not?

Invest in stocks is a great way to invest your money. The team is constantly checking the market for changes and make sure that you are always informed about the best time to invest. As a result, I have made more money than ever before, and I don't have to manage my portfolio on my own! Invest in stocks, it's worth it!

"The wisest thing that should be on everyone's mind currently should be to invest in different streams of income that doesn't depend on the govt. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in Gold, Silver and digital currencies (BTC ETH…)"

I am new to the stock market. Every stock that I bought so far, I was out of luck because I bought them when they were expensive. I feel I missed out on all the stock opportunities so far for the tech stocks. I believe having 75K yearly income would be a good investment so I want to plug all my savings into the stock market. I know this sounds a bit dull but I would like to know if I should learn investing or let somebody else (more capable like a FA) do it for me? Please share your thoughts. I am kind of tired of searching for a good stock to buy and losing all the good opportunities

  12. Hao Nguyen

With the current problem around the world today I think it's best everyone invest more in digital asset than Saving in banks, anyone you can manage don't live a life with no investment . Just my thoughts

  13. Peter Dennis

Happy New Year Brandon (@NewMoney You Tube) can you tell me if Seeking Alpha will allow me to link an Australian bank account to invest in US stocks? (Specifically BKR-B)? I'm extremely new to share investment but have watched every edition of your New Money channel and have made a decision to invest in Berkshire to just avoid the stress of my own market research. Also, does Alpha produce an EOY TAX statement that will be acceptable to the ATO? I'd like to keep my investment strategy as LOW maintenance and simple as possible.
