Hello everyone it’s JAZ!

One of the most important steps to do in our Personal finance is to plan for our retirement. Most people rely on Social Security Benefits but in the United States the average is $1,470 per month and $17,640 per year. With future inflation this would be less than minimum wage which will not be enough to retire financially free. Also, the Roth IRA is going to be future TAX-FREE INCOME. The earlier you start on your retirement plan the better! With that being said, let’s get started with the 5 steps on how to open a Roth IRA account in 2020!

1. Eligible:
The IRS has several limits on how much a person can earn in that year to be able to open a Roth IRA.
– Individuals: $124,000 to $139,000
-Couples: $196,000 to $206,000
Please keep in mind that there is a limit on how much you could invest in a year. The limit in 2020 is $6,000 but if you are 50 years or older you have the opportunity to invest in your retirement fund with $1,000 more.

Please ask for more information in the account you would like to open a Roth IRA.

2. Where?
Before opening an account please answer these questions”
– Do you pay a fee to open the Roth IRA account? OR what do you need to maintain the account?
-Do they offer customer service online or through the phone?
– What investments are you trying to invest in?
ETF’s, Target-date funds, actively managed funds, or stocks or bonds?
