USPS Even I Failed.. 😔… at Management..

When it comes to managing a large organization, ensuring operational efficiency, and delivering exceptional service, the United States Postal Service (USPS) is expected to excel. However, recent reports have highlighted significant failures in management and service delivery, leading to dissatisfaction among customers and employees alike.

As a former employee of the USPS, I can attest to the challenges and shortcomings of the organization. Despite the best efforts of many dedicated employees, the USPS continues to struggle with outdated systems, inefficient processes, and ineffective management practices. As a result, the quality of service provided to customers has suffered, leading to numerous complaints and negative feedback.

One of the key issues that I witnessed during my time at USPS was the lack of effective communication and coordination between different departments and teams. This often led to delays in processing and delivering mail, as well as confusion and frustration among employees. Additionally, the organization’s reliance on manual processes and outdated technology further hampered its ability to keep up with the demands of modern mail delivery.

Another significant challenge that I observed was the lack of sufficient training and support for frontline employees. Many postal workers were overworked and undertrained, leading to reduced productivity and low morale. These conditions had a direct impact on the quality of service provided to customers, further exacerbating the organization’s overall performance.

Furthermore, the USPS’s management practices have been called into question, with reports of mismanagement, ineffective leadership, and a lack of accountability. These issues have had a ripple effect throughout the organization, ultimately compromising its ability to meet the needs and expectations of its customers.

As someone who has firsthand experience with the challenges of working within the USPS, it is disheartening to see the organization struggle with such fundamental issues. It is clear that significant changes are needed to address the shortcomings in management and service delivery, and to restore the USPS to its former excellence.

While the road ahead may be difficult, I remain hopeful that the USPS can overcome its challenges and emerge as a more efficient and effective organization. This will require strong leadership, a commitment to modernization, and a renewed focus on the needs of both employees and customers. Only then can the USPS regain the trust and confidence of the public, and fulfill its vital role in the nation’s mail delivery system.

In addition, being a 204b should NOT be the standard requirement to qualify a person to become a supervisor as they are very limited to system access and/or real life experiences.

Minimum requirements should be 2 years experience at post office AND 1 year experience prior to postal employment.

Honestly, I hope someone from DC reads this.

Hey Jay, We Lost our Operation and outgoing Parcels today @my location. We heard only rumors about a week ago but heard crickets from Management and Unions. They still haven’t addressed Us or given noticed and had us just floating in every available operation today. Whats worse is they have mail from Saturday still here and NO ONE knows what to do about it they customers will be screwed this Holiday Season. I was also told Atlanta RPDC has over 1800 Containers and not enough work force or resolution to process all the mail and will be delayed over a few days at this point.

Amen Jh amen jh….I set the bar accordingly. I did my job..

  4. @bryanalpizar9876

If you ask me the company is still going down hill.

  5. @cooltkll

how did u fail sir…looks like u did what the company wanted u 2 do….

  6. @juliadameron3799

Well definitely a domino effect. We only get one truck now. They drop off mail and pick up all outgoing mail from previous days at same time. This pushes the express to be late. Great job Usps. Smh!

  7. @MrBoot44

Man you looking out for your drivers that means a lot to drivers to know you got there back man in ltl that treat us like shit they don't care about cut time

  8. @Mrs.Walker

ONE ISSUE I HAVE @ SOUTHERN MD P&D CENTER, 204b’s ARE PUT UP WHO WERE LAZY LIARS HIDING IN BOXES CONFRONTATIONAL, DID I SAY LAZY? Then those 204b’s want RESPECT FROM THEIR FELLOW WORKERS WHO REMIND THEN WHERE THEY COME FROM!!!!

  9. @nathanieldavies9769

It’s funny how people can be on time for work because they know if they don’t they don’t get paid but once they get their time is not an issue it’s funny how people show up early overtime. They never miss that.

  10. @andypolo2069

Well JH in our situation it was no help that here we had people in supervisory positions with so-called supervisory powers that had no idea about how to load a candy machine let alone load a truck with mail and transport it that is a huge issue and remember everybody that was in management in our department was full of s***

  11. @andypolo2069

Nobody was ever held accountable in our department they always worried about dumb s*** like punching in one click early punching out one click late they made a huge issue about that but they were blind to the fact that we drove around trucks with nothing in them zero

  12. @andypolo2069

We definitely need to do a legitimate podcast on this topic mrjh because as you know as well as I do I was told by our transportation manager that he appreciated my efficiency but that's not what the post office wanted he wanted us to drive around with empty trucks going to stations three times a day and did not want to see the big picture I know I'm controversial and I know I get a lot of talk but we need to do this a podcast the only way things are going to change is when they are brung from the dark to the light thank you Andy Polo aka Mr P

  13. @viauyeung

"Keep ur friends close & ur enemies closer", this has nothing to do with management at the small scale level, u been running UPS Surepost & Amazon Sundays for years, & generates revenue twice as much compare to other top 500 delivery companies in the US & still can't figure out how to build a HUB with coveryor belts. Ask any UPS feeder drivers what is 100% full compacity truck load compare to ours, it will be the biggest joke for another decade. Still relying clerks to run a pallet jack across the floor in a tiny space office. I am really not sure this 10 year plan gonna work out after all.

  14. @homc1947

The Sad Thing is This Happens All The Time !The MDOs will depart our Trucks On Time and We Are Still Sitting At The Dock. Then We Overide The Correct Departure Time They Get Pissed until We Drivers Would Keep Overriding their Coverups

  15. @wyldmanbill

I am in management. I have to say Jay you knock it right on the head. The same thing goes down in the delivery units as well. People get upset when someone new comes in making you do their jobs. They be like it's not gonna work and we don't do it like that…. I look at Tham like the are crazy and say make it work.

  16. @raymondcarlo2507

The biggest issue I see: people are put into positions with no prior experience in their current position.

Ex: employee promoted to transportation supervisor and was a letter carrier, they have no knowledge or experience of how logistics/transportation works.

Employee promoted to SDO/MDO and was a clerk. Has no knowledge or experience in that field.

Potential candidates should have some experience in the position(s) they are applying for.

  17. @krl828

    It’s called sdo

  18. @raymondcarlo2507

Yeah, the biggest thing I hear is "past practice". People love living in that time because they got away with doing nothing.

I am NOT in management but I was a transportation supervisor prior to being employed at the post office, I always believed in accountability.

But the schedule is the schedule for a reason, no it's not perfect but there's an SOP for a reason.

When things are done the right way, you become the bad guy.

You hit the nail on the head with reducing trips from 3 to 2 trips. Then when the truck is full at the end of the day and the supervisor gotta wait for another driver to pick up the mail they held, they're pissed because they wanna go home immediately. But the station supervisor doesn't see where they're at fault for holding mail.

  19. @ronaldcook3840

Jay is right…the postal service is a big organization but it's a small world at the same time. You could be talking to anyone who could possibly be related to him or not. People talk, so come in and do your job and go home.

  20. @oscarr8415

Got a 204b, whos cool with the carriers, but management's been messing with him a lot, they keep putting him on taking him off the desk. He's fed up with it.

  21. @markrick2195

Make sure you kiss ass or the management will terminate you regardless of your abilities

  22. @draco6m311

Interesting. It would seem the post office is a cesspool of what the fuck.

Either way I just want to deliver mail.

  23. @paulshields5340

hey post office is still screwing around peoples pay.
