Inherited IRA Rule Clarification [EP. 165]




After three years, the IRS decided to finally clarify the rules that pertain to non-spousal inheritance of Traditional and Roth IRAs. More specifically, how those beneficiaries are to distribute those funds within those IRAs after taking possession. The Secure Act 1.0 was enacted in 2019! So much for efficiency…

    When the parent's reached the age of RMD's and listed the revocable trust as the beneficiary, is it wise to have the "trust" disclaim the IRA and instead give direction to the custodial institution to distribute the funds equally amongst the adult children included in the trust after the trustee's passing.
