The issue of government distributing post-retirement benefits to Supreme Court judges has always been a topic of debate and discussion among the public. Some argue that the judges deserve these benefits for their years of service and dedication to upholding the law, while others believe that such benefits are unnecessary and unearned.

Those in favor of providing post-retirement benefits to Supreme Court judges argue that these individuals have devoted their lives to serving the country and ensuring justice is served. They have worked tirelessly to interpret and uphold the law, often making difficult and controversial decisions that impact the lives of millions. These judges are often under immense pressure and scrutiny, and the benefits they receive after retirement are a small token of appreciation for their service.

On the other hand, critics argue that providing post-retirement benefits to judges is unfair and unnecessary. They argue that judges already receive handsome salaries and perks while serving on the bench, and should not be entitled to additional benefits after retirement. Furthermore, many believe that judges should not be motivated by financial incentives, as their primary duty is to interpret the law objectively and impartially.

Ultimately, the question of whether it is right or wrong for the government to distribute post-retirement benefits to Supreme Court judges is a subjective one. While some may argue that these benefits are justified as a form of recognition for their service, others believe that it sets a dangerous precedent and can lead to questions about the impartiality of the judiciary.

In conclusion, the issue of post-retirement benefits for Supreme Court judges is a complex and contentious one. While it is important to recognize and appreciate the contributions of these individuals to the legal system, it is also crucial to ensure that judges are not unduly influenced or swayed by financial incentives. Ultimately, the decision on whether to provide post-retirement benefits to Supreme Court judges should be carefully considered and debated to ensure that the integrity and independence of the judiciary are maintained.

The book says that Diana Edulji, a former cricketer and member of the CoA, wanted Johri sacked after the allegations, to which Rai initially agreed. “However, the following day, for inexplicable reasons, [Rai] changed his mind.”

According her, the CoA should not have let Johri continue after the sexual harassment episode. “The findings of one of the member[s] was quite damning and he should have been asked to go even if the other two members had given him a clean chit,” Edulji said.

It's very illogical to compare bureaucrats with Hon'ble Justices. Democracy has three pillars and judiciary is one of them.

It is unfair to the other government officials

Bas BJP de toh sab thik…bas koi aur de toh galat… hypocrisy

  13. @priyaramraj5207

This is not correct. Other than the fact that security no other form of freebies should be given to the judges. They are liable to provide justice rationally. These rules will make them not take critical and seriously check the activities of centre.

Sir please tell who would take action on reversing this. The centre themselves or the judiciary?

Let's see what SC is going to say on freebies..isa nahi hona chahiye kiy chor hi chor ko pkdne ka aadesh de de

Judiciary is rather a very special organisation of the state and rather judiciary is entirely dependent on judges. It is the judge who makes judiciary what it is … Now when I say judge , they are people with high intellectual capabilities and have quick decision making mind…. A judge commonly hears nearly about 100 cases per day ( requiring expert knowledge and dealing with complicated issues) . Now ho estly not average person can have this mind … Generally senior advocates have such knowledge and mind…but they decline the offer ..because there is not expected pay to judges and they can earn in crores in only one case…. This is the reason why good legal minds are not opting for judiciary..they either go for corporate jobs or independent practice…. This stiff competition has lead to decline in quality of judges in country…. It is very very very important to give incentives to judges..so that it jib looks lucrative….. It is end of the day a job which requires sincere commitment …. And a major lifestyle change….as u need to be scheduled and committed ….
