Is The White House Trying To Change The Definition Of A Recession?

The White House has been under scrutiny recently for its handling of the economy, and some critics are questioning whether it is trying to change the definition of a recession. The issue came to the forefront after President Donald Trump reportedly expressed his desire to have a more favorable definition of a recession during a closed-door meeting with his economic advisors.

Traditionally, a recession is defined as two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth. However, there are indications that the White House may be seeking to redefine the term in order to downplay the economic challenges facing the country.

The potential redefinition of a recession has raised concerns among economists and policymakers who argue that altering the definition of a recession could have far-reaching consequences. By changing the definition, the White House could potentially manipulate the way the public perceives the state of the economy and downplay any negative economic indicators.

This issue has also sparked a debate about the transparency and credibility of economic data coming from the White House. Many are concerned that the government may be attempting to distort economic information in order to fit its political agenda.

Critics argue that changing the definition of a recession would not only undermine the credibility of economic indicators but also make it difficult for policymakers to respond effectively to economic downturns. By misrepresenting the state of the economy, the government would be unable to implement appropriate policies to address the root causes of economic challenges.

The White House’s handling of the economy has been a point of contention in recent months, with ongoing trade tensions and a looming global economic slowdown. The potential redefinition of a recession has only added fuel to the fire, raising questions about the transparency and integrity of economic data coming from the highest levels of government.

Ultimately, the potential redefinition of a recession raises concerns about the ability of the government to provide accurate and unbiased economic data. It also raises questions about the extent to which the White House is willing to go in order to paint a rosier picture of the economy.

For now, it remains to be seen whether the White House will follow through on its reported desire to change the definition of a recession. However, the mere suggestion of such a change has sparked concern among economists and policymakers, and has brought the issue of economic transparency to the forefront of public discourse.

We’ve always twisted words and moved goal posts to make ourselves look better. We are so amazing and you’re lucky to have us screwing you all over at every turn. We will continue sending billions to Ukraine so our war mongering owners can keep getting richer. They’ll take care of us on the back end with campaign donations.

This lady knows very little about anything and asking her questions is a complete waste of time. Let's be honest here. This system of asking questions at press house briefings is simply a way for the actual policymakers in government not having to answer and be accountable to the people of the United States

The original term, if you go back to 1873, 1893, 1907 and 1921 was "Financial Panic" someone did change the term to call it "Recession" following the crashes of 1929 and 1932 however Biden wasn't born yet. If you're going to insist on the original definition then you need to go back to calling it a "Financial Panic".

I apply at every business i see a now hiring sign and i see them literally everywhere. for months i've been doing this and i never get a response. i thought it was me and it could be. but i've started thinking maybe that's why the biden administration says were not in a recession because somehow all the businesses got a memo or something idk how they would do it but if a memo went out saying put the now hiring signs up but dont hire anyone. i'm sure i'm an idiot and theres a flaw to this logic.

An it doesn't matter if you add a billion jobs, if people are still paying $5+ for a gallon of gas, then what do adding jobs matter.

  19. @TROYJDONAHUE

This BS still about the jobs, when you make people stop working like during the virus, then let those people go back to work, you can't then claim "we've added millions of jobs, so…"

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Joe Biden has just signed a bill into law prohibiting everyone in America from using the word "recession." The Economic Integrity Protection Act — also known as the "Don't Say Recession" bill — now threatens to punish any American with the full force of the law for simply uttering the word "recession."

"Come on folks, gotta stop saying 'recession.' It's a dirty word, sweetheart!" said Biden to an old White House intern he mistook for a young White House intern. "My grandmammy used to wash my mouth out with soap for using that word! Watch your mouth, Jack!"

"We tried changing the definition of recession, but if anything it just made people point out Biden's recession even more," said Treasury Secretary and inflation expert Janet Yellen. "Apparently when the price of everything is inflated which causes economic decline, reduced trade, and a fall in GDP for 2 consecutive quarters people start to notice. Weird." Yellen then went back to drafting a new plan to tax McDonald's Dollar Menu items.

According to sources, those who break the law and use the word "recession" will face up to 10 years in prison, which after inflation, amounts to 17 years.

At publishing time, the Biden administration confirmed the bill has a sunset clause that will take effect if a Republican is ever elected President.
