Unions donate/support candidates who will give the state/city employees over the top benefits. Any politician/candidate that goes against them will suffer and lose. Time to start trimming the benefits to something reasonable even if a past politician gave away the farm to stay in power.

I know hundreds of people in CalPers and they are all getting their pension. Something does not add up.

3900 a month pension? How much was she making. Serious question, thank you.

  9. Mac Daddy

These pensions are ridiculous tho, 3900 a month. Come on now, she was probably a clerk or secretary

Taxpayers are tired of government employees union.

maybe she can borrow money from CALPers recipients making >100k/year
    start with Kamala Harris!

  13. Mark Stewart

So what should she do? The pension funds were partially funded at best. This is why California is broke. Spending more & taxing more but still broke. Now people are moving out of the State. Things will get worse.

I don't think this funny this is a serious matter some other people are living paycheck to paycheck. So sad………….

My local Philadelphia news constantly shows hidden camera stories about city workers doing private jobs when they are on the clock for the city, or sleeping at night in the city public buses when they’re supposed to be cleaning them, or parking in lots in their city vehicles and sitting there all day on the clock. Then they want their pension.

"How am I gonna make it, what am I gonna do?" The very question the government is asking themselves.

PEOPLE ARE MAKING COMMENTS ABOUT SOMETHING THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SMART A^&SS COMMENT.S! CALPERS WAS MANAGED FOR THEM BY JP MORAGN CHASE. THEY HELD 26% OF SEARS STOCK MORGAN CHASE USED THIS TO QUARANTINE SEARS STOCK AT 18-22 A SHARE FOR ABOUT A DECADE UNTIL THEY HAD SEARS WHERE THEY WANTED THEM IN OCT OF 1992 THEY SENT IN THEIR CORP RAIDER ARTHUR MARTINEZ TO SEARS TO """QUOTE'''' !!!!MAKE MONEY FOR THE SHARE HOLDERS""". IN REALITY FEES AND COMMISSIONS FOR THEMSELVES IN TEARING SEARS APART. THERE IS A TON OF MATERIAL TO SPEAK ABOUT ,BUT WHAT I SUGGEST IS CALPER'S RETIRES DO, IS HIRE THE BEST NON WALL STREET LAW FIRM AND DIG INTO HOW THEY RIPPED SEARS APART AND WHERE DID IT ALL GO. CALPER'S SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE LIONS SHARE AS THEY HAD CONTROLLING INTEREST SAVE THE FACT THAT MORGAN CHASE DID THEIR BIDDING.

Quit using the word CITY, and use the correct reference, TAXPAYERS. Those 5 people on the City council aren't paying her retirement. When they do, she can receive her full benefits again with my blessing.

  20. Ryan Archuleta

What do you mean I don't get free money forever? I worked and earned it!! Nevermind the millions of other people that don't get a pension for working just as much of not longer than me. I deserve the free money not them!!

  21. gary gerard

public employees get a foolish pay check for a foolish amount of work – then they expect a pension on top of that? Ha Ha Ha

  22. Scott Prost-Domasky

She claimed that she worked in the finance dept. in the city, and that CalPers just sends a bill, and the city paid the bill. if CalPers didn't charge enough, shouldn't CalPers have to pay the difference between the promises and what they say they can pay?

“All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service.”

3% per annum pensions we're NEVER feasible.
anywhere anytime the MATH NEVER WORKS !

They used to call those pensions GANGSTER PENSIONS !
In the 1970's San Francisco Garbage men got thta pension.
Pensions also meant for Judges so they couldn't be bribed.

She's afraid to admit she is mad at private taxpayers because she knows they don't support her gravy.

  25. Mark Myjak

This is what happens when you put faith in government. It's sad to see people lose their pensiones. But she could have done something. She could have set up a plan b. Set up and investment account which pays dividends.

  26. Tu N

There are many to blame with this crisis and I can't help but not feel too sorry for people who propagate this failed system. When did it ever make sense to think it's ok to expect more money in the end then you put in? I wouldnt be surprised either if they voted in politicians who kept promising higher pensions.
