Since the update Wednesday, all metals are higher as more CEOs begin to issue warnings about the economy and inflation. Data from the US Mint reveals that American Gold Eagle coin sales increased 67% as individuals seek to protect themselves in the current economic climate.

Since the update Wednesday, all metals are higher as more CEOs begin to issue warnings about the economy and inflation. Data from the US Mint reveals that American Gold Eagle coin sales increased 67% as individuals seek to protect themselves in the current economic climate.

While we have been writing/warning/talking about inflation protection for a couple of years now, those in the seats of financial power (such as the Federal Reserve Chairman, and the Sec of the US Treasury) are now acknowledging that inflation is a larger and more lasting issue than they first realized.

The last time we saw similar persistent inflation levels to today was from 1974 to 1988. Even with interest rates above 10%, it took three years (1973-76) for the inflation rate to reduce to 3% before climbing again. We are far from 10% interest today, with policymakers planning additional increases.

Watch out for falling stock, bond, and real estate markets, as the FED may not ride to the rescue with lower rates anytime soon. IMF Chair Kristalina Georgieva is promoting the idea of world governments sending out more “free money” to citizens to help with higher prices, which would only further stoke the fires of inflation….(read more)
