Think of all the Wii game developers that can just recycle their textures from 15 years ago
If those are zuck bucks, he has enough for a cup of coffee
Mark Zuckerbergs avatar in front of the Eiffel tower is when I gave up on Metas metaverse. I am pretty sure the avatars on XBOX Live from the XBOX 360 were way more cool than this garbage.
I think the last thing I saw regarding their metaverse was that the avatars now have legs …
Meta is totally screwed, they are trying to reinvent things that have been around since early 2000’s and some how it is complete trash.
More like that scene from Batman where the Joker burns the warehouse of cash
Did all the talented TWTR developers come to META?
Can’t wait for Better Fuel Huell to be released!
They outsourced it thru Fiverr
Hd graphics are the final finishing step for every single project. You don’t just throw high res models around while you’re building and testing the base infrastructure that’s a waste of everyone’s time.
His mistake was trying to generate hype way too early in a world full of morons. I’ll buy at $90.
Go look at the alpha shots of your favorite AAA game or early shots from something like Avatar. You’re looking at alpha models and complaining that they’re low res. Lol no shit.
The idea was overall good enough. Next step in tech development. It would be the foundation for coming 5G/6G services revolution, where more and more of reality will be incorporated into a *real time* digital world. Some of it is overkill, and probably too expensive at the moment. It’s application in business/engineering circles is still limited: it might find some kind of Mixed Reality application, for example: scanning the internals of an engine/obstacles/architecture. Self-driving cars are *begging* for a 6G level hardware infrastructure and software protocols (maybe even 7G, to truly make it a consumer-scale electronics).
Besides that, if it is just going to be for entertainment purposes, it needs to have some “wow factor”. What that wow factor is, not yet known. They tried to capture something in the advertisement, but the infrastructure to make it *actually* happen is not there. Comparing the poor graphics shown by Meta to pre-defined, highly processed, *not real time* graphics of games is unfair, though. This is all real-time processing. There’s not much to reach that level yet. I don’t think even Unity is competing with that yet.
Zuckerberg was just way too eager to jump in and have the, “first mover” advantage, without any vision of what it is really for (besides, “making lots of money”). But some of the big tech is going to get it right, and it will be a phenomenal leap for technology and how we interact with it.
The rich gets crher…
I totally forgot about that bet
