Gotta deliver this to military and government workers! This should be more of the conversation to make sure the TSP is maximized to it's full potential! Enjoy!

Wow 7 years and only 30k
I gain 75k with C and S funds since Trump has been in office.
With a total of 145k in 6 years.

I've been contributing to the TSP's C fund since 1986. I am happily retired since 2018 with a 50% C, 10% I, 10% S and 30% G allocation. I am pulling 3.5% from my TSP account and spending way more money than did during preretirement. Life is good.

If you under 50 all you need is 100% C and don't look at it until your 50! When your 50 put in a allocation like what the independent investor or have about 25% in the F fund and 75% C. When your 5 years out then put 25% in G and 25% F and 50% C!. You will thank me later! You will make more over time with the C only than others. If there is a down turn it will only be temporary and the gains will out perform any other mix!

Hey Ryan.. When did the military switch from a pension plan to a 401k like system? Or am I mistaken that there used to be a pension-like system in place?

Thanks for the info. Currently a government employee. Mine is set up like yours except I have a small percentage in the 2030. Been in for 12 years with less than 10 to go. Was told with 1 to 2 yrs to go put it all in the g fund for safety. Any thoughts. I should say as of now only 2% in The (g)fund. (CSI )have the biggest %

Thoughts on using the TSP as a low interest loan platform for building a real-estate portfoilio?

Mine was on default on L2050 I dont know why so I had to reallocate.. took advantage of that match they offer and dumping another 15% in the TSP ROTH on top of that.
Key is, as time passes, try to lower your expenses so you have more money to send into the TSP..
