Eh. Norvell still has not shown the ability to recruit an elite QB. FSU cannot take that next step without one.
I am a big Norvell fan. FSU fan forever. This is not a rant about Norvell. Salaries of college football coaches have hit the "stupid money" level. What can you do on 5 mil a year that you couldn't do on 4 mil? It's nuts.

Pay raise? For barley winning 10 games? Getting players from the transfer portal? He needs to keep building his resume before we give him more money. Can't keep the defensive staff intact, can't keep having 4th down conversions under 40% with 20 plus attempts. Like the direction of the program. We still have work to do.

Bobby Bowden was the first NCAA football head coach to make a million dollars a year. In 1995.
Pay the man. He has done a phenomenal job at creating the foundation here that will set the standard for years to come.

Being a FSU alumni I just like to say that Norvell did do well for 1 yr but we shouldn’t be giving him a big deal. Put up another big yr and then we can talk. Just because you put up 1 good yr doesn’t warrant a big deal.
I hope Atkins is on this Agenda for a raise. FSU needs to keep Atkins for at least 3 more years because teams will come for him. He too good.. A natty run here is in the making.

No state income tax makes a smaller Florida salary in the same realm as… Say Lincoln Riley who would pay like more than 1 million in tax to the state or nick Saban who pays like 600k. Lincoln Riley would also pay like 10% sales tax too. As well as massively more for all areas of cost of living.

I understand that this isn’t the same administration that threw Bobby Bowden out, but be careful Mike Norvell. They told Coach Bowden he could decide when he wanted to leave FSU. Then they broke the heart of the man that built the FSU football program. For who, Jimbo Fisher ! Bobby wanted one more year, he deserved one more year. Jimbo won with Bobby’s young men. I will never forgive FSU.
Coming from a poor guy: if I was happy and my family was happy and I’m making 6-8 mil/year…I wouldn’t care if some other school offered me 10mil. What can u do with 10 that you can’t with 8? Again, just a poor guy’s perspective…

He’s not Mel Tucker. Look at our record the last year and a half, not just the last season. These boys love playing for him and he’s created sustainable improvement.

Norvell deserves a pay raise but I think he is going to be smart about it. He seems to be one of the very few coaches that cares more about investing in the program and doing what is going to help the team be successful in the long run. I don't think he is the kind of coach to grab the bag and run after one good season. Especially with all the money the school is already spending on building that new football facility. He is taking the Tom Brady approach, spend the money where it needs to be spent and the success will come, you end up making more money in the long run being a dynasty team than you do just cashing in on 1 or 2 good seasons and then fading away into the distance.

FSU is on the borderline of being a true destination coaching job. You pay up and it could pay off for a long time
