   GM is simply evaluating whether they should continue spending money on what is now essentially a platform owned by a competitor. Once they review, and feel comfortable that TWTR isn’t just Tesla media they will continue advertising.

   GM has temporarily suspended advertising on Twitter. It is not clear whether this will turn into a permanent decision or not.

   GM needs to communicate with potential customers and social media is generally the best way to do that. Whether GM likes it or not, they will probably need to go back to Twitter soon, especially to reach young people with their marketing messages. GM will hate doing this, since Twitter is owned by the same guy who owns Tesla, but GM needs to make a rational choice for their bottom line.

   Elon doomed the platform.

   Just wait until there is constant racist, hate speech going on 24/7 and advertisers will leave in drove.

   If his model worked so well 4chan and other social networks that have limited moderation would be huge already.

   Advertisers want brand safety. Twitter now offers none of that.

   At what point in a company’s trajectory does it realize that “talking a stand” actually sometimes fucks you in the long term? Not talking about becoming aware of putting arsenic in the water and putting a halt to that, etc.
