I've enjoyed boating on lakes. Where I live is not very busy though. Still unmolested by A-Holes.
I love going down to the boat ramp on a busy weekend and watching people try to load and unload their boat. It can be a full day of free entertainment.

You do need licenses in the U.S. to drive any watercraft that has a motor or engine as far as I know, at least where i live on the gulf coast. I got my boating license online after studying and taking a test that qualifies me for things like jet skis and boats that aren't enormous. Having a license is enforced by the Department of Marine Resources and they are essentially the water police. They will literally pull your boat over and ask for a license, give you tickets, etc. I will say that people seem to lose anywhere from 20-30 iq points when they step on a boat or jetski. What's even worse is when someone that owns a jetski lets someone thats never been on one or know the rules take it for a cruise; it typically ends poorly
There is no comparing wrecking a boat as opposed to a car. Giant vessels excluded. There is so much friction between boat and water it almost just stops instantly when you let off of the throttle. An oar reached out or sometimes even just a few arms stop damage. Whereas in a car there's no stopping a 10 mph collision.

the guy at the end with the atv pulling a pontoon. thats a stunt. hes a youtuber whistlingdiesle. he spends thousands on things to break them. he blut a monster truck and drove it thru the ocean in Florida. the cost gaurd charged him 250k
@3:11 i've never seen a boat that automatically resets the throttle. The safe solution is they have a kill switch you are supposed to hook onto, so that if you fall out the boat turns off. Thing is people don't use them on boats that size too often.
