2022 SENATE PREVIEW: Pennsylvania Is Ground Zero for Republicans

The upcoming 2022 midterm elections will be critical for both Democrats and Republicans, as control of the Senate hangs in the balance. One of the key battleground states that will likely determine the outcome is Pennsylvania, making it ground zero for Republicans in their quest to regain control of the upper chamber of Congress.

Pennsylvania has historically been a swing state, regularly switching between supporting Democratic and Republican candidates. In the 2020 presidential election, the state narrowly voted for Joe Biden, but it has elected Republican senators in the past. This volatile political landscape sets the stage for an intense and competitive Senate race in 2022.

Incumbent Democratic Senator Bob Casey will be defending his seat, presenting an opportunity for Republicans to flip the seat and strengthen their position in the Senate. Casey, who has served in the Senate since 2007, is a moderate Democrat known for his emphasis on working-class issues. He has been a vocal critic of Republican policies on healthcare and has advocated for increased funding for education.

On the Republican side, several candidates have already thrown their hats into the ring, hoping to secure the party’s nomination and challenge Casey in the general election. Notable contenders include Sean Parnell, a decorated Army veteran and bestselling author, and Jeff Bartos, a real estate developer and former lieutenant governor candidate. Both candidates have been actively campaigning across Pennsylvania, showcasing their conservative credentials and touting their ability to bring change to Washington.

The Republican candidates are expected to focus on key issues that resonate with Pennsylvanians, such as the economy, jobs, and the energy industry. Pennsylvania has a strong presence in manufacturing and fossil fuel production, making energy policies a crucial topic for voters in the state. Republicans will likely criticize Casey for his support of policies that they argue have hindered economic growth and negatively impacted the energy sector.

Another area where Republicans hope to gain traction is the debate over gun control. Pennsylvania has a strong gun culture, and any candidate that can effectively champion Second Amendment rights may find support among voters who prioritize this issue. This could be a key differentiator for candidates seeking to appeal to a conservative base in the state.

Furthermore, Pennsylvania has a significant rural population, and Republicans will aim to capitalize on this by highlighting their support for agricultural interests and rural communities. Issues such as farming subsidies, rural infrastructure investment, and access to healthcare in rural areas will likely feature prominently in campaign messaging.

Additionally, the influence of former President Donald Trump remains strong in Pennsylvania, particularly among the Republican base. Trump’s endorsement could greatly bolster a candidate’s chances of gaining traction and securing the nomination. As one of the key swing states that Trump won in 2016, Pennsylvania will certainly be an important battleground for Republicans hoping to maintain their base while attracting new voters.

Ultimately, the 2022 Senate race in Pennsylvania will be closely watched and highly contested. Republicans believe they have a strong chance of flipping the seat, given the state’s history of switching between parties. Democrats, on the other hand, will fight to retain the seat and maintain their hold on the Senate. Both parties will need to carefully strategize and tailor their messages to appeal to a diverse electorate in the state, ensuring a fierce battle over the coming months. The outcome of this race will undoubtedly have far-reaching implications for the balance of power in the Senate and the direction of the nation.

Keystone Republicans better get their act together.
Republicans in the vein of Scott/Heniz/Specter will not survice. Neither will those in the vein of Pat Toomey, or even(and I am sad to admit this) Rick Santorum.
And you can forget about Tom Corbitt.
A MAGA Conservative Running for the Pennsylvania U.S. Senate is very Paramount mandatory.
If John Fittermen get hot, he will take the seat. Keystone Republicans, do not underestimate this man!

You've not mentioned Kathy Barnette or Sean Gale, both have strong pro-life backing. Joe Gale is running for Governor. He has a very strong pro-life base with his brother Sean. Still omitting the obvious fraud that took place in 2020. Can't explain stopping the election in the middle of the night and adding extra votes. All of the mail in's were counted first. The widespread cheating needs to be addressed and probably not going to unless people stand up for fair elections. Paper ballots only!

If Republicans want to ever win again they need to get rid of mail in ballots. I knew that would doom the past Presidential election. It only brings in low information fair weather voters and just plain fake voters.

Pennsylvania Wisconsin and Michigan should split their electoral votes district wise.. That'll seal the presidential elections in the favour of the Republicans.

I'm from Pennsylvania and I'd put my chips on the GOP blowing it to be honest. They need a grass roots conservative and populist, which seems nonexistent

Did biden win any single district?

  23. Joe Spice

I still fully believe that Trump won Pennsylvania because the Democrats cheated in Philadelphia.

  24. Pierce K

I’m worried that these senate elections are becoming less about policy that helps the American people, and more about ego & who will blindly support Trump. We’ve gotta get smart.

  25. Grant Webb

    Do South Carolina please

  26. Gavin Craig

We can't let this split in the Republican party happen, or we will never win another election.

  27. Dark Scener 777

    Hey Red Eagle,
How can you discuss the 2020 election results especially in a state like Pennsylvania as though the massive fraud did not happen. That state was ground zero for illegal law changes, millions of mail in ballots, machine flaws and the certification of a fraudulent slate of electors. Biden did NOT officially win Pennsylvania, it was STOLEN from him. Period. Biden did not "improve" anywhere nor did Trump "fail" anywhere, the entire PA election was run illegally by a corrupt AG, Secretary of State and Governor. We have the receipts! I watched the witness testimony to the PA legislatures. I am getting quite tire of people analyzing the 2020 election as though it was some fair and pure as the wind driven snow election. It was NOT damnit!
Biden is not the legitimately elected president and he did NOT legitimately win PA or any of these other battleground states and it's time you online citizen journalists STOP talking about the 2020 election as though the fraud did not happen, ESPECIALLY in PA.
Just because the media censors discussion about the election fraud does not mean that it will be forgotten and we should not just pretend it did not happen and that Biden actually won PA or any state.

Arizona democrats are mad at Kirsten Sinema she could face potential primary let's just hope Martha McLoser will not run again

  29. Varkrul

"authentic conservative" meaning trump republican. which is unconcerned with the deficit when its cutting taxes for the wealthy. minority bashing, supports capitol insurrectionists. loves conspiracy theories like a jewish space laser. That republican right? Also republicans need to win back the suburbs. and you say hes like the rest but you ignore that many of them see him as authentic and he already won statewide. hes got a good shot. if republicans have a messy primary it makes dems odds better especially if they unite behind a good candidate

  30. Chrispy Chip

    Fetterman sounds based

  31. John Cooney

    0 and 2 is great

  32. Viktor Yanokovich

You need a RINO in order to win in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is a swing state at the presidential level, however democrats tend to do very good statewide in Pennsylvania. The current democratic governor and senator are very popular figures and always easily win re-election. Pat Toomey won in 2010 by 2 points, and by 1.5 points in 2016.

  33. Nate Thomas

Out with the R.I.N.O.'s , in with the conservatives.

  40. Ryan Workman

At least 430,000 ballots in PA are completely bogus. Trump did win on the legal ballots. Additionally, at least 2, possibly 3 House races were stolen.

  41. buddy camp

We have to win the governor's race and the senate race to save the state of Pennsylvania
