Don't say Covid circumstances___we have been going to short time for weeks and months then nothing concrete from Dept of Labour even if get money….they pay you from.R30-R80 a day whilst we've never accessed our for 16years…..

Why can’t municipal employees be allowed to borrow from municipalities instead of going to the bank . If i want a house the municipality should pay for my house cash by means of loan with 0% interest rate . Then they deduct that money in my salary for 20-30 years instead of giving us this useless house allowance they tax . That way you also encourage people to not leave you as an employer . Same thing should apply when buying a car . You shouldn’t be going to the bank if you work for municipality. They must pay for your car cash then deducted with 0% interest in your salary . They’ll secure those loans with your pension should you decide to terminate your employment with them .

I think for example lets say i have accumulated about R900 000 we can go to the bank and buy a house of R1m maybe and they take R700 000 or R500 000 from the depf then be financed the remaining

The truth should be told. Officials in power knows very well that government employees are drowning in debts. I think they think narrowly when they fail to allow ppl to withdraw enough withdrawal. We even opt to resign to access the funds and risk being unemployed bcz there is no difference in our financial situation. We should be allowed to access the money so we can pay off our depts. Or those who need houses should be given opportunity to buy a house using the funds in gepf. We are unable to afford houses and not allowed to have rdp houses.

Do not just seat and do nothing when an investment opportunity comes. Most millionaire investors you see and admire today, didn’t make it by wasting time or waiting on others before investing

Why does the GEPF not pay pensions at all? What is the point of having a pension fund if you get nothing at all when you retire?! Where is the pension fund money?

  9. Sarah Mkhwebane

I want to withdraw my funds because I do not want to continue working for government. I want to do something else.

  10. Dieter Stegemann

Nevermind a partial withdrawal….I have been waiting since 2018 for my full pension to be paid out and then the GEPF ignores me with no reason. Then, put of the blue, the GEPF contacts me again in 2020, I send all my details to them, they contravene the POPI act and share my info with a third party without getting my prior consent. I am told that they would contact me….that was two weeks ago and it appears they are doing everything to delay my pension to be paid. How is this right? I sent every form they requested as well as supporting documents (certified and all) in the format required by the GEPF via registered mail. They received my paperwork in June 2021 and here I am still waiting. As said…this is my complete pension…money I paid and no longer employed so how is it justified that I (I am sure there are more individuals in the same boat) this is acceptable?
