1. Create an Equity Account: To accurately track your owner contributions, you need to set up an equity account in QuickBooks Online. To do this, go to the “Chart of Accounts” and click on “New” to create a new account. Choose “Equity” as the account type, and name it something like “Owner’s Equity” or “Owner Contributions.”

2. Record the Contribution: Once the equity account is created, you can record your contribution by going to the “+ New” button and selecting “Bank Deposit.” Choose the bank account you deposited the funds into, and in the “Account” section, select the equity account you created in the previous step. Enter the amount of your contribution and any other relevant information, such as the date and a memo explaining the purpose of the contribution.
