Marko’s Retirement Pie:
The Marko Score:
M1 Finance is a hybrid between a traditional stock brokerage and robo-advisor. It’s sort of like a mix of Vanguard and Betterment.
M1 allows you to pick your own investments, but it will manage them and reinvest your money automatically via auto-reinvesting and dynamic re-balancing of your pie (portfolio).
M1 Finance is for people who want to do their own research in what investments they want to choose, but not necessarily want to deal with portfolio re-balancing, knowing when to buy the dips, etc.
Instead of buying individual stocks, you can allocate a target weight to the investments inside your portfolio using a “pie” and M1 will automatically keep that balanced using “dynamic re-balancing” to make sure your allocations are maintained at the levels you set them at.
The best part is that It is 100% fee-free. That’s right, 100% free to use with no additional fees.
Long term this can save you a lot of money and that’s why I chose it for my own SEP IRA!
This isn’t M1’s prime offering, but they also offer an FDIC insured digital bank account offering 1.5% APY and 1% cash back, along with the ability to borrower from your own portfolio at very low rates (3.5 & 3.25% at the time of this recording).
M1 Pies Explained:
M1 Finance’s entire interface is based within pies. Pies are simply your entire portfolio, or pieces of your portfolio, with investments contained within those pies.
For example you can use one of their pre-built pies such as the “Income Pie” that contains dividend stocks or income paying corporate/municipal bonds or you can create your own pie
Example of custom pie: 25% MSFT, 25% TSLA, 25% AMZN, 25% AAPL.
(Note: I would never recommend having just 4 individual stocks in your pie)
Pros:
No Fees
Fractional Shares
Expert Pies (Easy Diversification)
Dynamic Re-balancing & Automated Investing
No minimum deposit
Cons:
No Mutual Funds
Un-intuitive Desktop Layout
No Tax-Loss Harvesting
Manual Re-balancing Triggers a Taxable Event

Hello, Just to let you know , Your M1 Finance link is not working
During a bear market, the headlines will focus on negative news, whether it's declining economic growth, geopolitical upheaval, cultural and legal turmoil, or some combination of all three. I listened to a podcast of someone that grew his reserve from $120k to almost $460k during this Red season, can you share tips on how to make such aggressive proceeds in short periods?
Master class! Thank you Marko! Just got started with M1 this is a priceless tutorial 'cause I was asking and puzzled by the same topics you touched base on !!

Every time is a good time to invest!
Investment is n ot a game of chance or
luck like the lottery, rather it involves
critical reasoning, planning, and diligence
and focuses on achieving the major goal
(PROFIT). Notwithstanding, one should put
into consideration that various externalities
may occur during the investment period
which could result in a high yield in profit or
loss.
Does it make sense to have a dividend focused portfolio in a taxable account? I already have a Roth and jd like to have a secondary account focused on passive income that I can utilize before age 60
EDIT clap clap clap
Thanx for this !
