I Tested ALL 11 Vanguard ETF Sector Funds!
For investors looking to gain exposure to specific sectors of the market, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) can be a great option. Vanguard, one of the largest and most well-respected investment firms, offers a range of sector-specific ETFs for investors to choose from. I recently decided to put these funds to the test and see how they performed.
I tested all 11 Vanguard ETF sector funds, which cover a range of sectors including technology, healthcare, consumer discretionary, and more. My goal was to determine which funds offered the best performance and whether they were a good option for investors looking to diversify their portfolios.
First, I looked at the performance of each fund over a one-year period. I wanted to see how each fund had performed relative to the broader market and whether they had outperformed their respective sector indexes. I also looked at the expense ratios of each fund, as lower expenses can lead to higher returns for investors.
After analyzing the performance and expense ratios of each fund, I was able to identify a few standout options. The Vanguard Information Technology ETF (VGT) and the Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) both impressed me with their strong performance and relatively low expense ratios. These funds had outperformed their respective sector benchmarks and offered a cost-effective way for investors to gain exposure to these sectors.
On the other hand, I found that some of the other sector funds didn’t perform as well. The Vanguard Energy ETF (VDE) and the Vanguard Utilities ETF (VPU) both posted lackluster returns and had higher expense ratios compared to their peers. This made them less appealing options for investors looking to gain exposure to these sectors.
Overall, my testing of all 11 Vanguard ETF sector funds revealed that there are some standout options for investors looking to diversify their portfolios. The VGT and VHT funds, in particular, stood out as strong performers with low expense ratios, making them attractive options for investors.
However, it’s important to remember that past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. Before investing in any sector fund, it’s important to thoroughly research the underlying companies and economic factors that could impact the sector. Additionally, investors should consider their risk tolerance and investment goals before deciding to invest in sector-specific ETFs.
In conclusion, my testing of all 11 Vanguard ETF sector funds provided valuable insights into the performance and cost-effectiveness of these funds. While some funds outperformed their benchmarks and offered attractive expense ratios, others fell short of expectations. Ultimately, investors should carefully consider their investment objectives and conduct thorough research before investing in any sector-specific ETF.

Another channel recommends the combination of SCHD and VGT as it has historically beat the SP500 over the last ten years.

Utilities are down so much because interest rates, they need to take out loans to make money (they make money through capital expenses, very unique profit structure)
