While there’s no black and white 401k balance that you MUST have, it’s nice to see how much our peers have invested in their 401ks. Since AVERAGE balances don’t always provide an accurate representation of the population, we also talk about the median 401k balance by age which paints a better picture of what America ACTUALLY has invested.
