I am so confused… I am trying to open a roth IRA (finally) but the last step before opening an account is to select "Fidelity® Government Money Market Fund (SPAXX)" or "FDIC-Insured Deposit Sweep Program (FDIC)". I tried to find out what these were but being a complete newb in investing I just got more confused. Could you point me in the right direction? Thank you for all you do.

  22. Jack The Car Guy

Great information. I’m 35 years old and want to start a Roth IRA. From what I understand, you can withdraw contributions any time as long as it’s just contributions and the interest gains if you’re under 59. But is there a complicated process if you have to take contributions out and fast?

  23. Ricky Muse

Ok, you must roll an IRA into a Roth IRA. You cannot roll a 401K directly into a Roth IRA. Correct?

  24. Byron Stansberry

Question. I currently have a brokerage account with fidelity with about 5.8k invested, up a total of about 14.6%. Is it worth taking the tax hit to sell and close this account to open a Roth IRA?

  27. Clive Brown

You talked about early withdrawal of your personal contributions to your ROTH without penalty. Does this also apply if you are under the age of 59-1/2 and leave a company then roll over your 401k? Isn't there a penalty associated with a early withdrawal then?

  28. Grant Tomasso

Thank you for this video. My husband and I are in our forties, never learned about investing. We were told to put it in the bank. We've lived most of our twenties and thirties pay check to pay check. When we did receive a windfall we should have invested the money. Live and learn. Starting a Roth this weekend. Will max both. I've been researching. I thought I had to have income to get my own Roth IRA; now I know I can get a spousal account through my husband because we file jointly. Mind blown.
You have a new subscriber. I love that your videos are straight to the point and very clear cut
