    In P.R. regular 401k does not pay taxes on the first $15k per 401k.

    IRA actually stands for individual retirement arrangement. It’s an arrangement from the government for you to have a break on taxes.

    You hit on the issue. For the young—Making post tax contributions when can least afford to or simply have relatively lower earning power. Will tell the young that it will payoff, and that is investing early and regularly. Make it part of your routine.

    Phill I'm a big fan and I'm from Europe I can't find any information regarding this. Is there for Europeans like Americans a advantage in keeping a stock and just selling it after a year? Or is this only for Americans

    Everyone should have some in each type of fund. Then in retirement you can withdraw from the traditional up to a certain bracket while rounding out your income with the tax free dollars of the Roth. Also should be contributing to a traditional IRA when it will reduce your tax bracket if possible

    For me personally, the only thing better than a Roth IRA is a HSA that has investments within it. The HSA isn’t taxed when contributing or when used for medical expenses.

    What if you sell a stock in your IRA to buy a different one. Does that transaction get taxed?

    Roth = Tax free growth! Best investment vessel hands down especially if you will be in the market for more than 10 years.
