Upon retiring at 59 1/2 and an individual is no longer working but simply living on what was saved and earned through investing in his/her traditional IRA is it going to be taxed on what the total portfolio is or what is withdrawn every single time?

So, you said we should be investing pretax money into a traditional IRA account? What if I put money I saved into my traditional IRA account? Am I been taxed twice? I applied for and IRA account thru acorn and they automatically gave me a traditional IRA. I thought that was weird because I hear more about Roth IRA accounts. I just started this account and I only have $500 in it but I don't want to put anymore in this account because I don't understand it.
