I’m a dividend investor, my wife and I have invested in the s&p500, both through my TSP with the government and through fidelity in her 401-k. Cashed out 370k from the S&P and invested with a full service broker.. Until about 3years ago we were 100% in the s&p after over 30 years. I’m retiring at the end of the month at 59, while my wife will retire next year at 54. We currently have 5.7 million in out tex deferred savings.

IF you're 25 and younger, jack it up to 15% minimum, go aggressive with a nice Index fund and a growth fund and don't look back. Crank it up to 18% when you get that big raise. We've done this with our son and he's on a great path. He is loving this present downturn because he KNOWS he's getting stuff CHEAP. As Warren says – "Be GREEDY when others are FEARFUL"…..WELL, ,right now, people are fearful. I myself have been sending more money than usual to my funds that are NOT in my 401K.

I remember in 2008 – yeah, you had to have some brass balls….but IF you hung ON…which I did…..you were very WELL rewarded. When it was that low, I just kept buying shares and buying shares – everything was ON SALE….and then it slowly started to climb…and kept going.

Why be a 401k millionaire if you can be a "real" millionaire with the same amount and shorter time? Best advice would be; Live below your means, Invest 20-30% of your income into the stock market but of course, you gotta be well informed about where you want to put your money… I made my first million earlier this year from stocks alone with about 550k after I dissolved my 401k and added little cash (through the help of a pro though). Living my best life

The best way to find that balance between saving and living is by investing. This way you get

to have your saving intact and then live comfortably off the revenue coming in from

your investments. Financial freedom is possible, you just need to know

what to do and when to do it. I am a living testimony.

Why this stuff is not taught in HS is beyond me.

For many of us, this is a foreign language and trying to learn it by yourself is not easy. If you grew up poor like me, 401k seemed like a word only rich people used. All the little terms people were using were not in my vocab, the hell is a Roth IRA. Why would I take the time to learn about something I have no business getting in. Now that I’m making good pay I am getting serious about my retirement but I don’t want to seem stupid and ask stupid questions about my retirement.

In my whole life, I have never know or heard of ANYONE that becomes a 401k millionaire. If you look at the history of 401k and how its made you'd be only doing the match lol. Even the creator said 401k is not a RETIREMENT vehicle. I do know some became ROTH IRA millionaire though lol

Warren Buffett once said "if you don't find a way to make money while you sleep,

you will work until you die", that is the reason I use the services of

Suzanne Stephens Ellis a licensed stock broker, I made

so much profit trading with her. You too

    can make easy profit.

Quarterly? Pfft! I'm 54, These 21st Century Tools are SO EASY TO USE that I reconcile my Net Worth WEEKLY. If you make less than $145K/yr and you don't have a Roth IRA you're shooting yourself in the foot. If you're under 35 you're basically turning your back on hundreds of thousands of tax free dollars.

Thanks for this great video, I must say having multiple sources of income is the best peace of mind anyone can have. I started my Roth IRA years back, I also decided to go into investment in stock. I have never lost in my trading because I have an expert broker trading from me. Her name is Suzanne Stephens Ellis. She is a financial expert and a licensed broker.

It amazes me how they always say we need millions to retire. all you need is standard expenses of living now as your base. Common sense you will spend less in retirement just like every one did in pandemic you don’t waste as much. Health insurance will be there too yes have pay additional riders but it’s part of your budget. And you can always work part time from home it’s not the 1990s where you had to be physically able to work. Ps. Most of us get over excess spending once past our 40s. Been there done that mindset. Minimalistic getting rid of crap.

The stock market is still a fantastic tool for building wealth, however, so it's wise to consider investing even if you don't have much money to spare

  22. USN Chief

Jeanne is so pretty! She is lucky I am taken…lol, Her advice is spot on, except for how often i look at my numbers. I like to see how it fluctuates with the market. I also, increase my saving percentage when the market takes a good long dive. Nice to have the spare income to do that.

1 Learn how to cook delicious food
2 Try to live in suburb and not in downtown
3 Buy car only if it is necessity or wife is pregnant
4 Find a second job that is boring, if possible try to get second job in restaurant. That covers one meal in most cases.
5 Stay away from drinking and smoking
6 Get yourself into hobby of reading books
7 Learn Microsoft Excel very well.

I don't have a 401k, but I do have a 457 plan and I look at it literally everyday. Mind your business now, and your business will mind you later. To put it another way, look after your money now, and your money will look after you later.
