My husband and I lived together from 1996 married in 2003 he passed in 2005 he was not draining his SS and was retired from the Military….I was told I couldn't draw his SS because we weren't married 10 year's. Can I get survivors benefits? It's all confusing to me.
Can you take your SS anytime after 62?
Can u leave it ss to someone if u die
Ok…this is my question. My ex-husband n i were married only 7 year, i had his only child. We both married again…his wife died four years ago before he started retirement. Currently his would have been 69, however, he just passed away very unexpectedly. Would i be eligible for any of his SS. I have only worked part-time for 17 years and am currently married to my husband for 25 years…i would really like to know because he never paid any child support all the years that i raised our daughter.
Your video is the best one i have watched about ex spousal benefits. So i did subscribe! Question: My Ex just signed up for social sec benefits, he’s 70. If he dies,
will i get what his check is currently at 70? Im 74 years old and i have been getting my soc sec since age 62. I was married 12 years. I never applied for anything of Ex’s soc security before.
Thanking you in advance.
So my wife can draw 30 percent of my amount at 62 plus my amount stays the same but if i die she can get my full amount and not have to try and survive on just 30 percent
I am 53 yo now, was married to my ex for 14 yrs, he passed away at age 42 in 2014 and he was earning a very comfortable salary when he passed. I have not remarried. He remarried and had 2 children when he passed and his widow remarried this year. Both of his children are now ages 10 & 13. Would I be eligible for his benefits at 100% IF I decide to retire at age 60 or 62? Thanks for all your wonderful videos.
I have a very old issue. I was married in 1970. Married 11 years. He died in 1992. After 40 years, I no longer have his SS#. (Lost due to hurricanes). My SSI lady is trying to help me. Aug 11th is a phone appt. Just how hard is it to find his SSI#? She found his head stone. Just wondering. Thanks so much for your help! I'm 67.
I have a question. My full retirement age is 66 and 6 years. I just turned 65. That is just 1 year and 6 years to go. I will be filing on my husbands pension. How much of a reduction is that? My husband wants me to wait. Is it worth waiting?
Monetary incentives for the ex-spouse to kick the bucket????? Is it just me or does that just seem inviting? Sad
My Ex can now collect on my benefits!
To approve social disability , SSI application text ☝️
If people are not together why go after there money shady greedy
What if you been married for 19 years and divorced but your ex husband is younger then you, can you still draw at 62 From your ex husband ?
Love your informational videos which I found originally on Tik Tok. I get spousal benefits BUT not enough because his child bride supposedly is getting MORE benefits claiming she has cancer.. which was my original health issue.
Friend died just 11 months after turning 62 from Covid, not married, divorced with all children adults, who gets the money he paid into SS and Medicare from ages 16 to 62 working full time year round? Nobody? The government keeps it all? Let's say it was about 750k paid in for both Social Security, Medicare…
Hello i was Married to my ex-spouse on June 5 1976 and Divorced on August 2001 . I am 65 now never remarried she remarried and her husband passed away she passed away last April 24th she was only 61. I was with her the last 8 years but we did not get re married can I get EX-Spousal Benefits I only turned 65 March 29 my Birth year was March 29 1957.
How about same-sex marriage are they qualify as well
That was very informative thank you. Question, if you are divorced and were married over 10 years and you take spouse benefits at 62 and it locks you into that for the rest of your life, when the spouse dies do you get survivor benefits of 100% even though you took Social Security at 62? Thank you in advance
Thank you. Every time I watch one of your videos, I get more info that pertains to my situation. I’m the older divorced spouse but he earned much more than me.
Suppose I was Married 10/ years ,Spouse was killed 25 years before my retirement. Between then and now I remarried. Am I eligible to receive benefits from prior Marriage??!
Can you address ex-spouse benefits when they die? Do I understand correctly that I can get (100%) of his if I am 60 and not remarried? Also, if I did get remarried and subsequently divorce from that marriage, does that disqualify me from my first husband's benefits, or do I simply have to be single at the age of 60? Lastly, if the answer is "single at 60." for how long do I have to be divorced from marriage #2? Thank you!
Love it ,Thank you so much.
Hello Sylvia: My ex-husband, 69, died recently and was getting retirement benefits. I am his ex-wife and we were married for 16 years. But I remarried. And divorced a second time. Am i still eligible for ex-spouse SS benefits? Thank you, Nathalie
I receive 1200 per month , my husband received 2000 per month SS. Can I collect any % of his❓
Good Subject
I can never find an answer for the percentage a divorced disabled ex spouse would get after age 50. Never remarried.
My ex passed at age 65, was still working full time.
We were married 18+ yrs.
I have been disabled since 2004.
And I am 58.
What percentage would I draw from his SS as a surviving ex spouse?
Married for 25 years, divorced for 12 years. I always earned more than my-ex. She has since remarried. She is age 62, I am 64 and do not plan on taking my SS until my full retirement age. I still work full time and make a good income. If my RX decides to start drawing off my SS benefits will the portion I receive go down proportionally, or does my benefit stay my benefit?
I have a question if I was married to my ex for 171/2 years and he tetires and draw his military retirement check plus his social security benefits, I draw only social security check, do they count both of his income to my one which is twice as much as mines if you add them together, so do they just count the social security benefits? Say for instance I draw a thousand a month from socially, security and he draws, social security benefits and military retirement why am I getting the shorter end of the stick. This is so confusing please explain this, or am I entitled to draw anything?
This is horrible it shouldn't matter if his income is fifty percent of your spouse benefits what count is that you have spent most of your life with that person and one of the spouses put their career on hold so that the military person could further his or her career how is this fair, to the one who only draws one check a month and the other one draws several checks to their one they only count one of the person who has several income, and that's social security. Not the military retirement, when they both were married over 17 years. I think they should count all of the person income who draws extra benefits, over the one who only draws one, that person is being penalizes for being a military expouse following them throughout their career, something is definite wrong with this picture, this should be investigated or looked into for further evaluation. And they should explain it in details that makes sense.
So if one spouse worked 40 years to get max social security, an ex spouse could be potentially entitled to 50% even though he or she was only married for 10 years? Seems like they should only get a percentage of what was earned during the marriage.
Are there any exceptions to the "Must have been married at least one year. " Rule ?
My husband took a fall on our front steps and recieved a head injury.
I called 911.
He was transported due to his condition.
He was hospitalized for 3-4 days.
He died 8 weeks later.
We had only been married for less than 6 months .
He was a higher wage earner. And was already retired.
Married 10+ years, divorced 10+ years, I have a pension… does that pension exclude me from drawing on ex-spouse benefits?
Is there a time limit on filing a Q30?
Which is why the old men are usually killed off pretty quickly once they remarry as in my ex we were married 35 years and he remarried was dead in two years she collects his entire SS benefits because she is considered the wife of record
Thanks but I need help from you please
My full retirement age is 66.5. My spouse is 67. If I begin taking SS at 65.5 and she waits to take her 50% of mine when she is 67 (she does not have 40 qtrs.) will she get 50% of – 1.) what I got when I began taking mine at 65.5? 2.) What I would have started at if I had waited to 66.5? 3.) What I am receiving at 70 (I will be 70 when she is 67)? 4.) Something else? Thank you.
My husband starting collecting social security at the age of 62. I’m now collecting social security and we called and ask if my husband could collect off of my social security because I make a lot more money then he has. He was to,d no because he took early retirement. Is this a true statement?
Thank you, thank you for a great informative video.
Married hubby collects I am 66 and don’t. When reading SS says I have to wait to 67.5 to draw from him. Is that correct
I was married only 5 years and had 2 had 2 children by him he has no other children. Still can't draw off him
This isn’t an ex spouse question. My husband waited until he was full retirement age to start drawing. He was also still working full time. When they calculated how much he could draw he had some low earning years included in the calculations. Ok my question is. After he was drawing, yet still working he was making a lot higher income and had more social security withheld. Will this increase the amount he’s currently drawing? Or is he stuck at the first calculated amount? If it can be recalculated does he need to contact them about this? Thank you
I have a question I been married for 42 years to my husband we been separated for 20 of those years we live in separate housing he earned more money than I did legally we are still married but separated will I be able to draw his Social Security we both are over 62
What if you don’t have your ex social security number can you get it somewhere
