Awesome content. I’ve been binge watching your videos since I found your channel. Question on spousal IRA: my husband got laid off back in March however our income increased significantly this year due to a sale of an investment property with short term capital gain as well as newly acquired rental income. Can we open a traditional IRA for him to contribute money to lower our tax liability?

I contribute the max to a Roth IRA 7000 I also have a defined pension plan at work and in addition they provide a traditional 457 plan that I contribute about 18200 a year my wife’s does not work with our personal deductions my agi is about 90,000 we file jointly would I be allowed to do a traditional ira and deduct another 7000 for her if not could do the Roth is better then doing a taxable brokerage account thanks

My husband made $7900 in 2018 from a part-time job and I had no taxable income with total joint income of $134,000. We are both retired and are 72 years of age. What is the maximum we can both put into our Roth IRAs for 2018?

  5. AceofJax89

So just to be sure, because I didn’t hear this number. If I am married filing jointly, I can have a Roth IRA and my wife can, using just my income. Meaning that as a couple, our contribution limit is 11k for 2018 and 12k for 2019.
