I have one of these that needle doesnt change positions. Does that mean it needs a spring? The lever moves but not the needle. Please help

I'm looking forward to seeing her all cleaned up! This machine doesn't look in too bad a shape. Powdered graphite is great for door locks and inside hinges but NOT sewing machines!
