So disappointing. I thought these videos might be helpful, but they aren’t videos at all. And they’re no use, that’s for sure.
So you have a series I can follow where you take apart the 401 and clean it? Like the 301 that you are doing now?
Sorry also need to know have very old vintage machines as well and they have rust on them is there any solution to clean these and maintain them? thank you again Tricia.
Thank for your videos I have learnt so much, but I watched your videos on cleaning and oiling machine, I am not game to do that so is there anything thing else I can use to clean parts without dismantling and putting in the tub. What about a degreasing aerosol I have putted apart some small areas but not main areas. Have found Metho lated spirits get some grease and grime off but need to know if there isn anything else. Cheers Tricia. Have ordered Tri-flow products thank you again.
What a challenge. If anyone can do it . . . I know it's you. Have fun.
Morning Andy. Keep em coming. If you ever find an Athena 2000. Please post a restoration video.
Man she’s worse than first thought. All that varnished oil.
Thanks for posting Andy – what a treat it will be for your client, that's true detailing. I removed my 401 cam stack, cleaned and reassembled (no AndyTube tutorial, but another YouTube sufficed) – and was surprised it still worked! Your motor rehab video helped immensely. Now I'm starting the tension removal etc – I picked up a bobbin tension meter (from your video) and am anxious to try that. Question: would the 401 fall into the 22-25g range for tension? Where did you find the gram information? I have the service manual but didn't see that mentioned – was curious about other machines as well.
I have dismantled and cleaned the Camsstack and wheel nut area. It turned out really well. When I getThe courage I’m going to remove the needle bar and clean it. I’ll work on one section at a time.. I have a never videoed anything and posted it on YouTube. If I had I would have sent you a copy to post. It’s just something I’m not ready to do yet. I feel I have too many fingers in the pie to take on another project.
It was a mess, but it ran LOL. Did you decide to take the camstack apart because of all the crude? I hope you will have a video when you line up the camstack.
This will help me when I take sections of my machine apart. Sorry to hear about your surgery .hope you’re feeling better.
That camstack. OMG! The carbons don't look too bad and the brushes only half worn, maybe?
